Season of Discovery Phase 6 Rogue Runes

Just like in the previous Phase, Rogues do not get a set of new runes. Instead, they’ll get an opportunity to receive any desired rune from a vendor. Rune Brokers are the vendors that can be found in a race’s starting zone, and they sell runes for 1 Copper each.

Blunderbuss Rune

Blunderbuss enables the Rogue to fire a musket shot that affects up to 4 enemies positioned within a cone in front of the user. The damage calculation is complex and scales with the Rogue’s level and Attack Power, dealing a range of Physical damage. This ability is particularly effective for engaging multiple targets in close proximity.

Here are the steps to locate the Rune of the Swashbuckler, which is essential for learning Blunderbuss:

Start by heading to Tyr’s Hand in the Eastern Plaguelands. Look for Scarlet Lockboxes scattered around the area. Use Pick Lock to open these lockboxes until you find a Sending Sigil.
The Eastern Plaguelands has four Sending Pillars, each located in one of the four cardinal directions (North, South, East, and West).
Travel to each of these pillars in sequence. When you interact with a pillar, it will teleport you around the zone. Be prepared for a lot of running as you make your way through the teleportations.

After interacting with the fourth pillar, you will be teleported into a house containing a chest. Looting this chest will reward you with the Rune.

Crimson Tempest Rune

Crimson Tempest is a finishing move that causes all enemies within 8 yards to bleed over time. The damage and duration of the bleed effect increase with the number of combo points used:

1 point: Causes damage equal to 30% of Attack Power over 4 seconds.
2 points: Causes damage equal to 45% of Attack Power over 6 seconds.
3 points: Causes damage equal to 60% of Attack Power over 8 seconds.
4 points: Causes damage equal to 75% of Attack Power over 10 seconds.
5 points: Causes damage equal to 90% of Attack Power over 12 seconds.

This ability is enhanced by any talents and effects that affect or trigger from the Rupture ability, making it a versatile tool in the Rogue’s arsenal.

Crimson Tempest Rune Location

Here are the steps to locate the Rune of the Crimson Tempest, which you need to learn the Crimson Tempest ability.

Head to Hearthglen in Western Plaguelands.
Obtain a Toolbox Key from workers in Hearthglen. You can get it by either killing the workers or using Pick Pocket.
Open the toolbox located near the smithy hut (next to the campfire) and loot a Crowbar.
Use the crowbar to open the chest at the top of the middle tower (marked by a yellow dot, coordinates: /way 45.8, 18.3).
Proceed to the northern tower.
Open the chest on the middle floor (marked by a red dot, coordinates: /way 46.3, 14.6).
Loot the Rune of the Crimson Tempest.

Fan of Knives Rune

Rogue Bracer Runes

Rogue Bracer Runes are designed to enhance the Rogue’s precision and damage output. These Runes focus on improving critical strike chances, energy regeneration, and the overall effectiveness of core abilities, ensuring Rogues can maintain relentless pressure on their enemies.

Carnage enhances your abilities with deadly efficiency. Your attacks now deal 20% increased damage to targets afflicted by one of your Bleed effects, ensuring swift and decisive takedowns of your adversaries.

Head towards the Blasted Lands, aiming for Dreadmaul Hold located at coordinates (45.3, 16.4).
Climb up the tower at that location. At the top, you’ll find an Abandoned Cache. You’ll need Lockpicking skill level 225 to open it.
Unlocking the cache will release a level 46 Draenei enemy called the Murderous Lost One. Defeat this foe to obtain the Rune of Carnage as your reward.

Cut to the Chase Rune

Cut to the Chase optimizes your combat flow. Your Eviscerate and Envenom abilities now refresh either your Slice and Dice or Blade Dance duration to its 5 combo point maximum. If both are active, only the one with the shortest remaining duration will be refreshed, enabling seamless transitions between your deadly techniques.

Once you’ve reached Friendly reputation with Emerald Wardens, visit an Emerald Warden Quartermaster and purchase the Rune of Alacrity for 1 gold and 60 silver.

Earning Emerald Wardens Reputation can be a long and monotonous task, but you can entrust this task to boosters from Overgear, and you will receive this Rune quickly and without problems.

Unfair Advantage Rune

Unfair Advantage allows you to retaliate fiercely when you dodge an attack. With each dodge, you strike back for 100% of your main hand weapon’s damage, unleashing devastating retribution upon your foes.

Pickpocket the Southsea Pirates and Southsea Freebooters until you obtain a Kidnapper’s Coin Purse.
Open the Kidnapper’s Coin Purse to reveal the Precious Medallion.
Head to Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris (67, 22).
Trade the Precious Medallion to Jabbey in exchange for the Unfair Advantage Rune.

Rogue Helm Runes

Gather Wildwhisper Draught

Head to Jintha’Alor in The Hinterlands (group optional).
Fight elite trolls until you get a Wildwhisper Draught.

Summon the Spirit of Agamaggan

Travel to Razorfen Downs.
Clear the area around Amnennar the Coldbringer.
One person drinks the Wildwhisper Draught to summon the Spirit of Agamaggan.
Talk to the Spirit to get a new quest and Agamaggan’s Roar.

Collect Wild Offerings (Solo)

Important: You only need to complete these steps once per dungeon, regardless of farming multiple offerings.

Go back to the Shadowtooth Emissary in Felwood.
Turn in the quest The Wild Gods.
You’ll be rewarded with the Rune of Potency.

Focused Attacks Rune

Focused Attacks sharpens your senses in combat. You gain 2 Energy every time you deal a melee or ranged critical strike, enabling you to maintain a relentless offensive against your enemies.

Make your way to the Hinterlands, and navigate to the ruins located at coordinates (72.0, 53.0).
A Vilebranch Mask will be guarding a small chest placed in front of an altar. Be prepared to Blind this creature.
Once you’ve defeated the Vilebranch Mask, you can loot the chest and acquire the Rune of Focus.

Honor Among Thieves Rune

Honor Among Thieves fosters teamwork and synergy within your party. Whenever any player in your party critically hits with a spell or ability, you gain a combo point on your current target. This effect cannot occur more than once every second, ensuring that each critical strike contributes to your collective success.

Requirement: Complete The Manor, Ravenholdt quest and establish a reputation with Ravenholdt.

At level 45, upon entering a major city, you’ll get in-game mail directing you to Ravenholdt Manor to speak with Fahrad. This quest, titled Fool Me Twice, introduces you to the enigmatic “C” and their motives:

Journey to Zul’Farrak in Tanaris (solo instance).
Search tents for two Clay Vessels containing Vile Concoctions. These can be used near cauldrons to trigger explosions while remaining hidden.
Use one Vile Concoction on the cauldron near Antu’sul. Loot the Offering of Bone from his satchel.
Repeat the process with the other Vile Concoction near Witch Doctor Zum’rah, acquiring the Ward of the Dead from his satchel.
Equip the Ward of the Dead and loot the revealed grave for the Offering of Flesh.
Combine the Offering of Bone and Offering of Flesh to create Blood Magic Essence.
Locate a small stone block near the base of the pyramid steps (right side). Use it to reach a second balcony containing a chest with the Hollow Emblem.
Merge the Hollow Emblem and Blood Magic Essence into an Emblem of Blood Magic.
Ascend the pyramid and loot the Spellbound War Chest for the Talisman of Kazdor.
Start Best Laid Plans. Back at Ravenholdt Manor, deliver the Talisman of Kazdor to Zan Shivsproket in the basement.
The Modified Talisman will be used in the next quest: One Last Drop. Take it to the dead drop in Pyrewood Village.
Return to Fahrad in Ravenholdt to claim your reward: Rune of the Coterie and Filcher’s Cowl.

Rogue Belt Runes

Rogue Belt Runes offer critical enhancements to both offensive and defensive capabilities. These Runes improve the Rogue’s mobility, damage output, and crowd control, making them indispensable for Rogues aiming to excel in various combat scenarios.

Poisoned Knife Rune

Poison Knife is a very useful skill that needs a melee weapon. It allows for a quick switch between your dual wielding weapon, dealing normal off-hand weapon damage with a 100% chance to apply poison from your off-hand weapon to the target. Besides that, it gains 1 combo point and combines with the talents that are related to Sinister Strike.

Start your trip by locating the quest named Highway Robbery in Desolace at an Extinguished Campfire, which is northwest of the Kodo Graveyard at coordinates (47, 54).
Proceed for Kormek’s Hut in the vicinity of (63, 39), and meet Bibbly F’utzbuckle to accept the quest On the Lam.
As your questline progresses, move to the inn in Booty Bay.
Go to Tokal and continue the questline with Cherry for Your Thoughts.
Purchase the Cherry Grog from Nixxrax Fillamug nearby, priced at 3 gold and 40 silver. Upon doing so, she will then direct you to the subsequent stage of your quest, titled No Honor Among Thieves.
Now begin the final stage of your journey by heading to Arathi Highlands and locating the Rowboat beneath the bridge between Arathi Highlands and the Wetlands around the coordinates (53, 91).
When you click on the Rowboat, you’ll have to fight against Illari Duskfeather. Get the Jewel-Encrusted Box from Illari’s Loot Cache, and receive the coveted Rune of the Poisoned Blade. Use it to learn Poison Knife.

Shadowstep Rune

Shadowstep provides Rogues with a tactical edge by means of which the player can try to step through the shadows and reappear behind the enemy. This is also an ability that allows for a 70% speed boost for 3 seconds, giving offensive and defensive usefulness in combat situations.

Travel to Pyrewood Village in Silverpine Forest. Find a Dead Drop chest at (1421 47.1 71.1), this will start The Eye of Bhossca quest.
Before Scarlet Monastery in Tirisfal Glades, there is a Supply Locker inside the stable (81.2, 32.1). Sack the Locker (requires Lockpicking 100) for the Scarlet Initiate’s Uniform.
Put on the disguise and visit Scarlet Monastery. Use Pick Pocket on a Scarlet Scryer in the Graveyard wing to obtain Scryer’s Key.
At the Library wing, loot the Personal Letterbox within the Athanaeum using Scryer’s Key to obtain a Confidential Message. Go to the Graveyard wing, take a seat on benches, and loot the Stone Coffer to get the Reliquary Key.
Back to the Library wing, retrieve the Reliquary Key, and use it to open the Padlocked Reliquary for the Eye of Bhossca. Put the Eye in the Dead Drop chest at Pyrewood Village.
Back to the city, check your mail, and then get the Rune of Shadowstep from the Dead Drop. Use it to learn Shadowstep.

Shuriken Toss Rune

Shuriken Toss unleashes a swift shuriken throw at your adversary, inflicting damage equivalent to 2.5% of your Attack Power. Remarkably, it extends its impact to up to 4 additional nearby targets, all while earning you a valuable combo point. The strategic finesse required to optimize this skill makes it a dynamic asset in your Rogue’s arsenal.

Get close to the Dart Stalker mounted on a tree, which will release a Poison Dart.
Use Trap Disarm on the Dart Trap to create a Conspicuous Cache containing the coveted Rune of the Assassin, you’ll need to learn Shuriken Toss.

Rogue Boots Runes

Rogue Boots Runes focus on enhancing mobility, survivability, and tactical versatility. These Runes provide boosts to movement speed, defensive capabilities, and strategic combat maneuvers, ensuring Rogues can adapt to and dominate any battlefield situation.

Rolling with the Punches Rune

Rolling with the Punches gives Rogue players a defensive advantage, as it provides them with increased Health every time they Dodge or Parry. This effect can be stacked up to 5 times, providing for great survivability in many longer rounds of combat.

Starting your trip, go to Camp E’Thok in Thousand Needles. Watch out for the largest tent in the area, whose coordinates are (18.5, 20.9).
Inside the largest tent among the Rogues, one will see a Sizable Stolen Strongbox located at the right wall. Get ready for a series of challenges, as you continue to explore its content.
The Sizable Stolen Strongbox hides a succession of chests within chests, each of which has a lockpicking difficulty that gets progressively higher. Start with the Large Strongbox and continue the chain of unlocking until you get Rune of the Southpaw from the Small Strongbox. Use it to learn Rolling with the Punches.

Waylay Rune

Waylay is the strategic ability that disrupts your target’s combat abilities, increasing the time between their melee attacks by 10% and reducing their movement speed by 50% for 8 seconds. This skill is very helpful in limiting the enemy’s movement and tempo inside both PvE and PvP situations.

Your journey will start with a trip to Deadwind Pass where you will meet with the Dalaran Agent who is waiting at Ariden’s Camp (#1430 52 35).
When you engage the Agent, you will be gifted with Ariden’s Sigil.
Armed with Ariden’s Sigil, go on a quest to hunt down and kill seven powerful Dark Rider elite bosses.
The reward for defeating them will be a different Dalaran Relic, which shows the progression towards the final goal. Be careful with the Dark Presence buff to let you know the Dark Rider is nearby.

Master of Subtlety enhances attacks made while stealthed and for 6 seconds after breaking stealth, inflicting an additional 10% damage. Whether launching surprise assaults or engaging in prolonged skirmishes, Master of Subtlety ensures Rogues maintain a lethal edge over their adversaries.

Go to Kurzen’s compound, which is situated in northern Stranglethorn Vale. Reach a stone tower in the midst of chaos, which is the symbol of your destination.
In the stone tower, the Rogues will find Wendel Mathers, the prisoner, behind the bars of the cage (44.2, 8.0). Interact with Wendel Mathers who will ask you to find the Compound Cage key to allow him to be free.
Exploit your Rogue skills to pickpocket the Kurzen mobs who are inside the nearby cave in order to get the Compound Cage Key.
Grab the Compound Cage Key, and use it to free Wendel Mathers from his jail cell.
Then return to Booty Bay. Locate Captain Aransas on the lower fishing platform (27.8, 76.6) and claim your Captain Aransas’ Reward, where you will find Rune of Subtlety, you’ll need to learn Master of Subtlety, and Jani’s Charm.

Rogue Chest Runes

Rogue Chest Runes are crucial for maximizing the Rogue’s poison effectiveness and defensive resilience. These Runes enhance the Rogue’s ability to deal sustained poison damage, improve survivability, and provide strategic advantages in both offensive and defensive roles.

Deadly Brew Rune

Deadly Brew amplifies the effectiveness of your poisons, unleashing a torrent of venom upon your enemies. Upon inflicting any other poison, Deadly Poison is simultaneously applied, ensuring maximum poison damage. If your weapon lacks a poison, Instant Poison has a chance to trigger, transforming it into a potent venom applicator. Deadly Poison and Instant Poison now receive a damage boost based on your Attack Power, further amplifying their potency.

Deadly Brew Rune Location

Read this step-by-step guide to understand how to unlock Deadly Brew Rune.

After receiving a letter in the mail titled “An Offer” at Level 20, venture to Pyrewood Village, nestled in the Silverpine Forest. Just outside the Shadowfang Keep ramp, a hut awaits your discovery. Inside, a chest beckons, and looting it triggers the initiation of a quest: The Horn of Xelthos.
The quest propels you towards Stonetalon Mountains, where Veenix awaits. He seeks the Venture Co. Work Order, obtainable through pickpocketing or looting from a Venture Co. Operator. Returning this order to Veenix rewards you with the Breaching Charge, a crucial item for the upcoming challenges.
Armed with the Breaching Charge, return to Shadowfang Keep. Entering alone is paramount, as rare elites Gemela and Gefell only materialize in solitude. Use the Breaching Charge to unlock the gate immediately upon entering, granting access to the entire Keep without confronting the initial boss.
Navigate the dungeon cautiously, utilizing stealth to pickpocket the elusive rare elites: Gemela in the Ball Room and Gefell up the stairs in the corridor on the right. The skill Distract proves invaluable in tight spots where mobs congregate.
Possessing Sister’s Half-Key and Brother’s Half-Key, seek refuge to combine them into the formidable Twin Key. This act momentarily breaks your stealth. Return to the Stables in the Courtyard near the entrance and use the key on the chest, revealing the long-sought-after Horn of Xelthos.
Return outside to the hut, chest in tow, and turn in The Horn of Xelthos. Exercise patience for approximately 15 minutes, and another mail arrives, beckoning you back to the chest-containing hut. Claim your well-deserved reward: the powerful Rune of Deadly Brew.

Just a Flesh Wound Rune

Just a Flesh Wound provides a bastion of defense, enabling them to weather the storm. While Blade Dance is active, you receive a 20% reduction in physical damage, enhancing your survivability in melee combat. Your chance to be critically struck by melee attacks is also reduced by 6%, minimizing the impact of devastating blows. Additionally, Feint is replaced with Tease, a taunt that provokes the target to attack you, diverting their attention from your allies.

Rune of Teasing can be purchased for 2 gold upon reaching Frienfly reputation with the new Supply Factions: Durotar Supply and Logistics for Horde players and Azeroth Commerce Authority for Alliance players.

Quick Draw Rune

Quick Draw unleashes a swift ranged attack, catching your enemies off guard and disrupting their movements. Draw your ranged weapon and fire a rapid shot, dealing standard ranged damage and ensnaring the target with a 50% movement speed reduction for 6 seconds. Quick Draw benefits from talents and effects that modify or trigger Sinister Strike, maximizing its effectiveness.

Human: Navigate Cutthroat Alley in Stormwind to discover a hidden chest upstairs in a house. Overcome two Level 10 Cut-throat Muggers to claim your rewards.
Dwarf: In Ironforge’s Forlorn Cavern, loot this SoD Rune from a Dusty Crate outside the Rogue trainer area. Beware, as two Level 10 Cutthroats will spawn upon looting.

Dwarf/Gnome: Pickpocket Dark Iron Dwarves in Loch Modan until you receive a Dark Iron Lockbox (Requires Lockpicking Level 1).
Night Elf: Kill Naga at Cliffspring River Cave in Darkshore until they drop a key. Find the chest at the end of the cave.
Orc and Troll: Pickpocket Southsea Cannoneer south of Ratchet to loot Buccaneer’s Matchbox. Blow up a gunpowder bucket and open the chest to receive Blade Dance.

Envenom Rune

Envenom unleashes a potent poison attack, unleashing a burst of Deadly Poison damage and increasing the frequency of Instant Poison application. Deals instant poison damage based on your Deadly Poison doses on the target. Following Envenom, your chance to apply Instant Poison is increased by 75% for 1 second, plus an additional 1 second per combo point. Each combo point activates one dose of Deadly Poison, further enhancing Envenom’s potency.

Purchase the Hot Tip item from a vendor behind the building with Tog’thar for 75 silver.
Open the item to reveal a map and Safe Combination.

Dwarf and Gnome: Pickpocket Dark Iron Dwarves south of Helm’s Bed Lake in Dun Morogh until you receive Blackrat’s Note. Find Blackrat near Misty Pine Refuge.
Night Elf: Drops off Lord Melenas in the cave north of Dolanaar.
Forsaken: Pickpocket Captain Perrine, forge a document at Brill town hall, and deliver it to Jamie Nore.
Orc and Troll: Pickpocket Burning Blade thugs above Razor Hill for a note. Turn it into the troll Ba’so at (51, 58) in Durotar.

Shadowstrike Rune

Shadowstrike closes the distance with your nearby enemies and delivers a devastating surprise attack, teleporting behind them for a swift and deadly strike. Requires stealth and consumes 20 energy. Deals 150% weapon damage to the target and awards 1 combo point.

Horde: Northwatch Hold in the Barrens, on a stable roof. Use lockpicking (80) to open the chest.
