TBC Anniversary Magtheridon Strategy
You might be wondering how to beat Magtheridon in TBC Anniversary, since it is a coordination-heavy, multi-phase encounter. Here we have prepared a TBC Anniversary Magtheridon strategy that will cover all phases of the fight.
This boss encounter revolves around managing Hellfire Channelers, controlling Burning Abyssals, correctly using the Manticron Cubes, and surviving intense raid-wide damage during the final phase.
Pre-pull
Before starting the TBC Anniversary Magtheridon bossfight, the raid group can freely enter the room and position without triggering the fight. The encounter begins the moment a Hellfire Channeler is attacked, so make sure all assignments are finalized beforehand. Here is how you can prepare for the fight:
- Assign at least three tanks for Phase One (some raids may use up to five).
- Assign specific healers to each Channeler tank.
- Assign five Manticron Cube clickers, with backups in case of deaths or Mind Exhaustion overlaps.
- Assign interrupt rotations for Dark Mending and Shadow Bolt Volley.
- Ensure Warlocks are prepared to Banish Burning Abyssals immediately.
Players assigned to Manticron Cubes must understand not to spam-click them, as this can break the channel and cause a wipe. When all five Cubes are channeled correctly, Magtheridon takes 300% increased damage, making proper timing critical.
Phase 1
Magtheridon remains imprisoned while the raid deals with the five Hellfire Channelers. Each Channeler must be tanked, and interrupts are the most important part of this phase.
Dark Mending must be interrupted every time. Missing one heal can drag the phase out and overwhelm the raid. Shadow Bolt Volley should also be interrupted when possible, and Fear can be handled with Tremor Totem or Fear Ward.
Burning Abyssals will spawn during this phase and must be controlled immediately. Warlocks should Banish them as soon as they appear. If Banish is not available, CCs can keep them under control until they despawn. As Channelers die, the remaining ones hit harder, so tanks and healers should be ready near the end of the phase.
Phase 2
After about two minutes, Magtheridon breaks free. The main tank should pick him up right away and move him to a wall, facing him into it so Cleave does not hit the raid. Any remaining Channelers should be killed before switching fully to the boss.
Blast Nova is the main mechanic in this phase. When Magtheridon starts casting it, five players must channel the Manticron Cubes at the same time to interrupt it. Cube users should already be in position and click once when the cast starts. After using a cube, players get Mind Exhaustion and cannot use it again for several minutes.
Magtheridon also uses Quake, which interrupts casting for several seconds. Healers should use healing-over-time spells and shields before Quake happens. Tanks may need to use defensives during these moments if healing is delayed.
Phase 3
At 30% health, Phase Three begins. Magtheridon will cast Debris, dealing heavy damage and stunning the raid briefly. From this point on, parts of the ceiling will collapse. The danger areas are clearly marked on the ground and must be avoided immediately, as standing in them will kill you.
This is the burn phase. Use all remaining cooldowns and end the fight quickly. Cube timing must stay clean, because a missed Blast Nova here usually means a wipe. Stay calm, move out of collapse zones, and focus on finishing the boss.
