Mining is one of the most important gathering professions in WoW Classic. This Profession fuels crafting for several other professions, such as Blacksmithing and Engineering. From mining mineral veins and gathering ores, players can create a lot of stuff, from weapons and armor to explosives and machinery.
To get started on your mining adventure, you will first need to get yourself equipped with a Mining Pick, available for purchase from the majority of Trade Goods or General Supplies vendors, and learn the Mining profession from the trainer. WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Mining is about patience, but it’s also about knowing where you’re most likely to find those mineral veins. In WoW Classic Fresh, these veins are scattered around in different regions depending on your current skill level, with each mineral type having its own specific zone or type of terrain associated with them.
Part of what makes Mining a strategic profession is competition — especially on high-population servers. Resources are scarce, and knowing the best paths and zones to level up can make all the difference.
It’s not very convenient to gather ore on foot, so we highly recommend getting yourself a Mount. You can easily obtain one from us, quickly boosting your gathering efficiency and making your mining adventures much more enjoyable.

- Yarr Hammerstone – Situated in Kharanos in Dun Morogh. Since Dun Morogh is a starting area for Dwarves and Gnomes, he’s perfect for getting your mining career started early.
- Dank Drizzlecut – Located at Gol’Bolar Quarry in Dun Morogh, Dank Drizzlecut can help those who are in the middle of Dun Morogh location and wish to get a quick skill boost without traveling back to Ironforge.

For Horde players, trainers are equally well distributed in key areas across the continents:
- Brek Stonehoof — Found in Thunder Bluff, Brek is easily accessible to Tauren miners. His location near the city’s main area makes him ideal for those leveling in the western regions.
- Makaru — Located in the Valley of Honor in the major city Orgrimmar, Makaru is a central figure for aspiring Orc and Troll miners. Since Orgrimmar is a major Horde city, Makaru will be your go-to trainer through many stages of leveling.
- Krunn — Found in Razor Hill in Durotar, Krunn provides training to those who are starting in the orcish heartland. If you’ve just begun and don’t want to travel too far, Razor Hill is a solid choice.

Mining Leveling 1 – 65 Skill (Alliance)
For Alliance miners, start your journey in Elwynn Forest if you are a Human or Dun Morogh if you are a Dwarf or Gnome. Elwynn Forest is rich in Copper veins, especially around the borders of the zone and in the mountains east of Goldshire. The forest provides an abundance of veins, allowing a quick progression to level 65. In Dun Morogh, follow the cliffs around the borders to quickly reach the required skill level, making sure to also explore the areas around Coldridge Valley.
Mining Leveling 1 – 65 Skill (Horde)
Horde players will want to start their WoW Classic Fresh Mining Leveling in Durotar or Mulgore. Durotar is filled with Copper veins, especially along the canyon walls and in cave systems. Focusing on the valley regions will yield the best results. In Mulgore, concentrate on the mountainous edges of the zone. Copper is plentiful in this region, particularly around the cave entrances and ridges.

From skill level 65, you’ll be moving on to Tin and Silver Veins. The best zones for this level are Loch Modan for the Alliance and The Barrens for the Horde. In Loch Modan, focus on the mountains and cliffs. The zone is rich in Tin veins and provides some Silver as well. The Barrens, head to the southern parts, around the mountains. The spawn rate for Tin is high, with Silver occasionally mixed in.

For this stretch, you’ll be targeting Mithril Veins. Badlands and Tanaris are great zones to mine Mithril and Gold. The Badlands are filled with Mithril veins throughout the entire region, while Tanaris offers Mithril along its dunes and near rocky formations. Mithril deposits can be found fairly consistently in both zones, making it ideal to level quickly.

To max out your WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Mining skill, Thorium Veins are your ultimate target. Un’Goro Crater and Winterspring are the prime locations for Thorium nodes. In Un’Goro Crater, concentrate on the mountainous edges and the ravines. This area also has Rich Thorium Veins, which grant the best experience gains. Winterspring offers plenty of Thorium in the northern parts, near Frostwhisper Gorge. With these rich deposits, getting to Mining level 300 becomes achievable within a relatively short period.
Bonus Mining Skill Items and Enchants
Mining isn’t just about gathering from nodes — it’s also about enhancing your abilities to be the best possible miner. There are several items and enchants in WoW Classic that can give you a notable boost to your mining capabilities:
- Mining Pick — The basic tool required for mining, but certain special picks can provide extra bonuses, such as the Dark Iron Mining Pick, which can be obtained during quests in Blackrock Depths.
- Enchant Gloves – Mining — Enchanting your gloves with +2 Mining is an effective way to ensure you can gather from nodes slightly before your skill level matches the requirement.
