The First Descendant Season 3 New Systems

The First Descendant Breakthrough introduces some deep mechanics that enhance combat and gameplay in general without slowing down new players. Some of these new systems include Arche Trigger System, Vehicle Mechanics, Swords and Melee Combat, Trigger Modules.

Arche Trigger System

The First Descendant Season 3 Overview

The Arche Trigger system gives all Descendants an extra Trigger Module slot unlocked through a Mastery Rank 15 sub‑quest. You pay Kuiper Shards and a Refined Axium Crystal to activate it, then fit Trigger Modules that activate bonuses on skill casting. To earn Kuiper Shards without any extra grind, reach out to our team.

Modules come in common, rare, and ultimate tiers and drop from Trigger Module loot boxes in Axion Plains missions. If a module does not fit your build, you can dismantle it via Silion in exchange for shards. The system adds an amazing layer of build crafting for all players, so it’s definitely worth experimenting with.

Trigger Modules and Materials

Trigger Modules power the Arche Trigger system in TFD. You get them from operations and Colossus fights. The higher ones give you extra effects like damage increases after a skill cast or buffs to your allies.

Refined Axium Crystals are the key currency to unlock the system, and Crystallization Catalysts and Energy Activators fuel the activation process. Keep an eye out for drop zones where Axium chunks rain down from above; they’re marked on your map and give bonus material when picked up.

Vehicle Mechanics

The First Descendant Season 3 Overview

Using vehicles in The First Descendant Season 3 is truly convenient, especially now that 3 new types of Hover Bikes are added. Every player earns a GLIDE‑4 bike just by completing the early quest, while the Orca and Vortex models drop from operational areas.

Each vehicle can be enhanced to improve speed and handling, turning long runs across the Plains into a fast cruise. These bikes aren’t just for travel as there’s a Mobile Energy Monitoring race activity with six courses where faster times grant extra rewards.

✏️ Tip: Enhancing a Vehicle earns Mastery Rank EXP.

Melee Combat Changes

The First Descendant Season 3 Overview

In Season 3 of The First Descendant, you finally get to use swords. The first blade — the Shadow Blade — features a charged dash attack in iaijutsu-style as its special move.

In the future, Episode 2 will introduce a two‑handed greatsword and a lightsaber‑style weapon, so melee fans have more variety coming. Swords occupy the same slots as firearms, and you can swap between ranged and melee play on the fly. Specialised modules will let you tweak damage type, attack speed, and unique effects.

The First Descendant Season 3 New Customization

The First Descendant Season 3 Overview

Your hub life gets a makeover thanks to a fully customizable lounge in The First Descendant Breakthrough. This personal space allows you to display your Descendants, arrange furniture and show off collectibles known as Colotoys. You can invite friends to visit, effectively turning your lounge into a social hub.

The First Descendant Season 3 brings a big slate of cosmetic skins. The NieR: Automata crossover offers 2B and A2 costumes and a battered 2B. The original
characters are not forgotten; there are H.O.U.N.D. training uniforms for Ines and Raya, a Black Raven costume for Enzo, and F1-style racing uniforms for Nell and Serena.

Here you can find a full list of new items, including themed skins, cosmetic items, vehicle skins, and more, added to the shop in TFD that can further enhance your customization experience.

The First Descendant Season 3 New Characters

The First Descendant Season 3 Overview

We get to see new TFD characters this season, and the first one is going to be Nell. Nexon has also promised additional characters for later in Season 3 Breakthrough. The developers indicated more Descendants are on the roadmap, so we are keeping an eye on official streams and community updates to prepare you for their arrival.

The new character, Nell, manipulates arche energy, can create and detonate Arche Breach and fire Breach Shards. Unlocking her requires gathering Arche Loot from Axion Plains operations.

The First Descendant Season 3 Events

The First Descendant Season 3 Overview

Season 3 in The First Descendant isn’t just about static content — it also features time‑limited events. Remember, we’ve had Descendant Fest 2025? There will be more fun and dynamic events. Three new Challenge Events have just gone live:

  • Breakthrough with Nell;
  • Into the Axion Plains;
  • The crossover The First Descendant X NieR:Automata.

Each event gives you a reason to dive in, whether you want to try the newly released Descendant Nell, explore the dangerous Axion Plains, or chase themed rewards from the NieR collaboration. These events run for nearly a month, so there will be enough time to try them out.

Another major addition is the Axion Plains Breakthrough attendance event. This 28-day event is perfect for collectors and completionists. By logging in daily, you’ll collect Attendance Mementos, which can be exchanged for rewards from older attendance events.

For new and returning players in The First Descendant, the Boost UP Event offers an instant shot of progression. It comes in two phases — Boost and Boost Path:

  1. Activating Boost in Albion unlocks Hard difficulty by auto-completing all Normal main quests and hands you a ready-to-go Level 40 Bunny, powerful weapons, and more.
  2. Once Boost is active, the Boost Path becomes available. This is a guided progression track with over 150 quests designed to walk you through The First Descendant’s core systems.

To make it easier for you to navigate through the available TFD events, we have gathered these quick facts or tl;dr that outline major points:

  • BB-On NPC: Central hub for all events in Albion;
  • Challenge Events: August 7 — September 3, 2025 (PDT);
  • Attendance Event: August 7 — October 15, 2025 (PDT);
  • Boost Period: August 7 — August 27, 2025 (PDT);
  • Boost Path Period: August 7 — September 17, 2025 (PDT).

Events may change, but Weekly Challenges remain an integral part of the in-game activities. They require quite a lot of your time to complete, but you can skip them and ask our team for assistance.

The First Descendant Season 3 New Battlefield

The First Descendant Season 3 Overview

A new chapter of The First Descendant season’s story unfolds in Axion Plains, and is revealed in The Axion Plains main quests:

  • Part 1 of the main quest opens after you clear the Fortress zone and sends you on a mission into this devastated outpost.
  • Part 2 becomes available at Mastery Rank 15 after you thwart a Vulgus plot in Sigma Sector.

The First Descendant Season 3 Overview

As you progress, you’ll encounter the Legion of Breach and uncover the fate of Karel, a key character returning to the narrative. The story also explores the relationship between Enzo and Nell, so it might be interesting to dive into their lore. There will be a total of 7 missions, including 2 new ones.

The First Descendant Season 3 Quality‑of‑Life Changes

Season 3 of TFD brings not only lots of gameplay updates but also several quality-of-life improvements aimed at making your gameplay smoother, fairer, and less frustrating. These changes touch on navigation, balance, character viability, and overall stability. The First Descendant QoL updates include:

  • Quest Path Display — Added in Albion to help you find NPCs and objectives faster.
  • Role Balance Adjustments — Developers are working on closing the gap between support and DPS roles, with targeted changes and focus-group testing in Korea and North America.
  • Character Skill Tweaks — Jayber, Viessa, Esiemo, Sharen, Valby, and Keelan have been adjusted to improve their effectiveness.
  • Bug Fixes — Numerous stability fixes, including resolving an issue where parties could not join mid-session.

The First Descendant Season 3 New Raid

TFD Season 3 sees the arrival of an entirely new eight-player Colossus Field Raid with the first appearance of the Wall Crasher. The large-scale boss encounter happens on open ground in Axion Plains, specially designed to meet the dimensions and rhythm of the zone.

You’ll mount Hover Bikes towards the target and change to close combat within range. The fight requires coordinated damage to protected areas, precision on revealed weak points, and noting of area-of-effect attacks. The Wall Crasher’s size and mobility make it by far the most difficult raid thus far released, a reward for groups who can remain active and mobile during the fight. Want to test the raid, but not sure you are skilled enough? Ask our Pro Player to do it for you and enjoy the rewards.

The First Descendant Season 3 New Gear

New ultimate weapons, new external equipment, and melee weapons were added to The First Descendant’s arsenal in the current season. Two new ultimate weapons are worth your attention:

  • Exterminator is a rocket launcher that auto‑locks its targets and does additional damage to armored foes. It’s ideal for dealing with shielded limbs of Colossus or massive Legion units.
  • ERASER is a new ultimate rifle that accumulates Analysis stacks as you
    get hits, then deploys clouds of enzymes that corrode foes. This corrosion effect strips defenses, which takes it to a whole new level as a boss-killer in the form of Storm Hanger.

✏️ Tip: Blueprints for both weapons can be found dropping in Axion Plains Operational Areas.

Upgrade Materials

Gear upgrades in The First Descendant need a continuous supply of materials. Trigger Module loot boxes give modules and occasionally Refined Axium Crystals. Weapon Augmentation Core boxes and External Component Core boxes drop from global stabilization rewards. Cores come in tiers, with higher tiers unlocking better stat rolls. Completing Operational Areas and participating in Wall Crasher rankings grants Core Amplifiers, Kuiper Shards and alloys used in crafting.

✏️ Tip: Efficient players run these activities daily to stockpile resources.

If you need any of the Basic Materials, you don’t have to spend your time farming. Our team can assist you with this task and get any required material.
