Trading System in PoE 2

PoE 2 Trading Guide

Developers have redesigned the PoE 2 trading system, which was very uncomfortable in the original PoE 1. Now the system will be more like a stock exchange or Auction House. However, with the launch of the game it became obvious that you still need to use third-party sites and extensions for PoE2 Trade.

We are still waiting for Path of Exile 2 to add an Asynchronous Trading System which will enhance your game experience. This system would save you from having to sell unnecessary currencies and items to vendors for cheap. It could be called an ‘Auction House’ because you can put an item up for sale without waiting for a response from the buyer. But really, this system just smooths things out. If it appears in the game, you’ll be able to spend more time adventuring and less trade time standing around waiting for buyers.

In the Asynchronous Method, you list items on the Exchange using Gold. Then other players can buy them at any time, even when you’re not online. Since trades are completed automatically, you’ll want to make sure to double-check your prices before listing. This way, you don’t end up making a costly mistake.

The cost of Gold Listings varies depending on the type of item. Some items will have a currency item with a small listing fee. However, Unique items, such as Headhunter or Shavronne’s Wrappings, are going to be much more expensive to list in Gold. This is to ensure items remain valuable while keeping the investment adequate. It helps maintain the economy and balance in Path of Exile 2.

In PoE 1, different units of trade were typically used for trading. The standard units of trade are Divine and Chaos Orbs or any currency from the extensive list of currencies. We can provide you with any amount of Divine Orbs and any other Currencies you want.

Path of Exile 2 Exchange System

There is an Asynchronous PoE 2 exchange system similar to what the Currency Exchange Market represented in the first Path of Exile. The developers mentioned that trading Unique items involves significantly higher Gold costs compared to currency items, which suggests that players can trade almost anything, including Rares and Unique.

In Path of Exile 1, Faustus, the Financier, ran the Currency Exchange, offering an instant buyout to buyers with enough Gold. This provided the comfort of not having to leave their current activities while performing trades and decreased trade time.

Synchronous trade is still available in PoE 2 game. You’re still free to whisper another player in PoE 2, then travel to their hideout and make a direct trade. Depending on Gold availability and trading costs for Uniques, direct trades might still be the better method for trading items like Headhunter.

Trade Options in PoE 2

Currently, there are a few PoE2 Trade Options. These include selling items directly to other players or buying and selling items through PoE 2 Trade website — the only available alternative to PoE 2 Auction House. Both of these options are quite inconvenient trading experiences, but there’s hope these aspects will be improved in Path of Exile 2. According to the latest news about PoE 2, the developers will introduce an Auction House system, which should make the trading process much more enjoyable in Path of Exile 2. But this information is not confirmed yet.

In the sections below, we’ll take a closer look at both of these player-to-player trading methods.

PoE 2 Trade Between Players

The standard trading method in PoE was quite complicated. You had to find a player in game chat, send them a message, and manually trade the item you wanted to sell. This was because the original PoE lacked both a mailing system and an Auction House that could make trading quick and simple. What it’s like to trade with players? Here’s how to trade with other players in PoE 2:

  1. If you have an item for sale, find a buyer, ask for their in-game name, and then invite them to your party;
  2. Identify, in your stash, the item you want to trade;
  3. Move the selected item into inventory;
  4. Place an item in the trade window and make sure that the price offered is correct;
  5. Accept the trade request and complete the transaction.

If this system remains untouched in Path of Exile 2, then you’ll most likely follow these tips to trade with other players. Anyway, our team continues to keep an eye on the latest updates.

PoE 2 Trade Website

With the launch of the game, PoE 2 Auction House still was not added to the game, so the only alternative to this feature is the “Item Database” like the PoE Trade website. This is the official Path of Exile 2 Trade website, and it allows players to trade any type of item and buy and sell them for in-game currency. It’s not the most convenient method, but it’s the only viable one and it’s the only present feature in PoE 2 for now.

Here’s how to trade on the Path of Exile 2 Trade website:

  • Choose “PoE 2 – Standard” or “PoE 2 – Hardcore” option;
  • If you have items for trade, use the search bar. Choose the category, rarity, and quantity of items you want to buy or sell;
  • Input the desired stat’s values in the trade window;
  • Do not forget to inspect the filters and choose the needed options;
  • Pay attention to Trade Filters in the trade window if you want to find a specific trade.

What Can You Trade in PoE 2?

We expect that most item types will be tradable in Path of Exile 2: currency items, gear, uniques, maps, and itemized League mechanics, like it was in PoE 1. However, some items cannot be traded, like Gold or Expedition Currencies.

While GGG has not confirmed many specifics regarding what will be tradable in Path of Exile 2. We can make a few educated assumptions based on the original PoE game. Gold is still untradable, serving as an economic limiter to prevent players from rapidly buying and selling rare items for a quick profit. Most items will likely be tradable in PoE 2 and won’t bind on trade or equipment. GGG has always been against soulbinding items or putting heavy limitations on the in-game economy. And we hope that the PoE 2 developers will redesign the trading system and make it more convenient without requiring the use of third-party sites.
