As you go, you’ll find Vaal Remnants — shards of Vaal that make monsters stronger when activated. You’ll need to sacrifice them to unlock the Vaal Ruins.
You’ll witness times when the empire of Baal still existed. Each visit allows them to rebuild the temple, place rooms, discover new features, and unlock hidden chambers of Baal’s history. You need to be well-prepared and have a strong League Starter Build, as the deeper you go, the greater the sacrifices Baal demands. But the rewards are totally worth it.
Path of Exile 2 Fate of the Vaal League Mechanics
When you enter the new league in Path of Exile 2, you’ll notice stone structures scattered around Wraeclast. These are Vaal Beacons, which can be found throughout the open world and affect nearby enemies. You must kill enemies to activate a beacon. After activating six beacons, you gain access to the Temple of Atziri ruins, and your adventure begins.

There is a console in the Path of Exile 2 Lira Vaal ruins that allows you to place rooms in a six-cell layout. Each playthrough gives you six rooms, and their functionality depends on their location: the proximity of certain rooms enhances effects and unlocks unique interactions. There are several Room types:

Key mechanics you will encounter in Lira Vaal in PoE 2 include:
- Corruption Chamber Level III. Allows you to apply a second corruption to an already corrupted item with a 50% chance of destroying the item.
- Flesh Surgeon (Surgeon’s Symphony). A special room where, with the help of the Transcension device, you can replace one of your limbs with another (four options) to gain combat bonuses; after death, the bonuses disappear.
- Royal Architect and Temporal Gateway. The Royal Architect opens special rooms and leads to Aziri, while the Temporal Gateway sends the player back in time to before the Cataclysm, allowing them to use versions of rooms from the past with enhanced rewards.
