In this Sha of Anger guide, we will take a look at one of the Mists of Pandaria Classic world bosses that can be found in Kun-Lai Summit. Unlike instanced raid encounters, anyone in the area can join the fight, and players outside your raid can still deal damage. This guide explains the abilities, mechanics, and strategy for handling the Sha of Anger encounter in MoP Classic.
Sha of Anger Overview
The Sha of Anger is one of the world bosses in Mists of Pandaria Classic, designed for large groups but accessible with smaller raid sizes. The fight is simple in structure but requires coordination around a few key mechanics. The encounter alternates between two phases and is considered fairly simple once the mechanics are understood.
The fight can be completed with different raid sizes. The general recommendation is:
- 10-man: 2–3 tanks, 2–3 healers, 4–6 DPS;
- 25-man: 2–3 tanks, 5 healers, 17–18 DPS;
- 40-man: 2–3 tanks, 8–10 healers, 28–30 DPS.
It’s helpful to bring an extra tank in case one of the main tanks gets controlled by Growing Anger. Ranged DPS may have to reposition more often due to Bitter Thoughts clouds. A full 40-man group makes the encounter much easier as long as players respect the mechanics. Want to prepare for the Sha of Anger fight? Our MoP Classic Gearing is here to help!
Sha of Anger Location
The Sha of Anger is located in Kun-Lai Summit in Pandaria. You can find it in the northwest part of the zone near the Temple of the White Tiger, at approximately /way 67.6, 74.6 on the map. Since it is a world boss, the Sha of Anger spawns in the open world and can be engaged by any nearby raid group.
Sha of Anger Strategy
The Sha of Anger fight follows a repeating cycle tied to its Rage bar. The key to success is managing Growing Anger, handling adds, and surviving Unleashed Wrath.
Tanks should always keep the boss engaged to prevent Seethe from triggering. When Ire adds spawn, they should be brought next to the boss and cleaved down with AoE damage.
Players need to stay out of the Bitter Thoughts clouds, since they silence all abilities. Ranged DPS may have to move more often, so positioning should be flexible.
The most dangerous mechanic is Growing Anger. Affected players must immediately run away from the group before it detonates; otherwise, multiple players can be mind-controlled. Anyone under Aggressive Behavior must be quickly brought to 50% health so they can return to the fight.
When the boss reaches 100 Rage, he casts Unleashed Wrath for 25 seconds, dealing heavy raid damage. Healers should be prepared for this phase, and players should use defensive cooldowns to reduce incoming pressure. The cycle then resets and repeats until the boss is defeated.
Key Points to Remember
- Always keep Sha of Anger tanked to prevent Seethe;
- Move out of Bitter Thoughts clouds;
- Tanks pick up and cleave down Ire adds;
- Players with Growing Anger move out of the raid immediately;
- Burn down players with Aggressive Behavior to 50% HP;
- Use defensives and healing cooldowns during Unleashed Wrath.

- The mount has a very low drop rate, making it a long-term farming goal;
- It can drop for any player who has a loot roll on the Sha of Anger each week.
Sha of Anger isn’t a complicated fight once you know what to watch for. Stay out of the clouds, deal with mind control quickly, and be ready for the heavy damage during Unleashed Wrath. Most players keep coming back every week for the loot and the small chance at the Heavenly Onyx Cloud Serpent, which makes the boss worth farming in MoP Classic.
