There are 80+ playable characters in Genshin Impact and lots of new ones are planned to be added, so Genshin Impact best team composition can be tricky. In this guide, we’ll look at elemental reactions, character synergy, and strategies that will help you create the perfect party for Genshin Impact.
How to Make a Perfect Genshin Party?
There are two general approaches for Genshin Impact best team composition:
- Building Team Cores: This approach is centered on creating flexible team foundations that can accommodate any DPS heroes. These cores frequently contain strong Support characters who bring utility, healing, and elemental application, which allow you to switch in different Damage Dealers depending on the situation.
- Building Around a Main DPS: This is where you pick the team composition that will support and compliment the Damage Dealer you like the most. This approach helps in the complete utilization of their strengths, thus making a team that revolves around their play style.
Building Team Cores
With so many characters in Genshin Impact it is not surprising that a lot of them occupy similar roles in parties. The base of strong teams is the core characters, who are usually the Support characters; therefore, the teams can be adaptable and powerful. Such an approach focuses on cooperation and adaptability, therefore you can change different Damage Dealers according to the enemy type. Let’s look at some core-based teams in Genshin.
National Team
This team’s core has a lot of variations, but it always includes 3 of these Supports:
| Character | Abilities |
|---|---|
| Bennett | Provides an attack buff and healing |
| Xiangling | Deals huge off-field damage, applies Pyro a lot |
| Xingqiu | Applies Hydro, offers interruption resistance, and good damage |
| Kazuha | Anemo character, buffs overall damage by grouping enemies, resistance shreds |
It is possible to use these 4 characters without the main DD in one team, looking at satisfying chaos of elemental reactions. Building National Team is beneficial because these characters often show themselves in other best teams, and all of them, but Kazuha, are 4-star characters you can buy in Star Glitter shop, so obtaining them is a question of time. Examples of the best teams in Genshin Impact based on this core:
| Team | Position №1 | Position №2 | Position №3 | Position №4 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Classic National | ![]() Xiangling | ![]() Xingqiu | ![]() Chongyun | ![]() Bennett |
| Raiden National | ![]() Raiden Shogun | ![]() Xiangling | ![]() Xingqiu | ![]() Bennett |
| International Child | ![]() Childe | ![]() Xiangling | ![]() Kazuha | ![]() Bennett |
Double Hydro
Hydro reactions are one of the strongest in the game and overall many top tier characters are Hydro. Having 2-3 Hydro characters is recommended for comfortable gameplay. Almost every Pyro, Cryo, or Electro Damage Dealer will thrive in a team with two Hydro Supports. These are examples of Double Hydro teams that work for different players:
| Position №1 | Position №2 | Position №3 | Position №4 |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() Hu Tao | ![]() Xingqiu | ![]() Yelan | ![]() Zhongli |
![]() Yanfei | ![]() Xingqiu | ![]() Kazuha | ![]() Kokomi |
![]() Yoimiya | ![]() Yelan | ![]() Xingqiu | ![]() Zhongli |
![]() Wriothesley | ![]() Yelan | ![]() Furina | ![]() Shenhe |
Hyper Bloom
This is the newest element in the game, that gave players strong elemental reactions and new gameplay. Combining Hydro and Dendro produces Dendro Cores. Add Electro Character to it and you will get an amazing reaction called Hyper Bloom. It does not require huge time investment and skills, making it really useful for beginner or casual players. All needed characters for the first Hyper Bloom team are free. Some examples of Dendro teams:
| Position №1 | Position №2 | Position №3 | Position №4 |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() Alhaitham | ![]() Nahida | ![]() Furina | ![]() Shinobu |
![]() Neuvillette | ![]() Furina | ![]() Yae Miko | ![]() Baizhu |
![]() Alhaitham | ![]() Baizhu | ![]() Raiden Shogun | ![]() Yelan |
![]() Nahida | ![]() Baizhu | ![]() Xingqiu | ![]() Shinobu |
Building these cores in some variations offers great flexibility and the opportunity to play almost any DD type character as soon as you acquire one.
Building Around a Main DPS
Some characters focus on dealing as much damage to enemies as possible, and it is better to make a party to support and buff them for their maximum damage. Here are some examples of great Damage Dealers and examples of teams built around them.
Alhaitham
One of the strongest Dendro characters, if not the strongest Dendro on-field DPS. He has great synergy with Electro off-field Sub-DD like Yae Miko, Fischl, or even Raiden, if she is used as a Support. Being a Dendro character makes him rather tricky to build, but investments do pay off.

Novelette
Being one of the Hydro characters, Novelette has plenty of team options, especially works great with Furina, using mechanics of changing HP to full potential, also he needs elemental reactions for self-buffing. Having some records of soloing Abyss, he is definitely a very strong character.

Itto
Known as the king of Himbos and a Geo character, Arataki Itto is a delightful addition to any team. As a defense-scaling on-field DPS character, he thrives when certain conditions are met to unleash his full potential.

Ayaka
Regarded as the Cryo queen, Ayaka embodies the essence of a frozen team. Her potent burst effortlessly tears through enemies. To make her great you definitely need Shenhe to buff damage, Kazuha to group enemies, and Kokomi to heal and give Hydro application.

Xiao/Wanderer
Two depressed Anemo boys with trust issues have similar needs, both being attack-scaling Anemo Damage Dealers. Their mechanics want you to buff their rough damage rather than the reaction’s strength. Their teams need to include Farusan, the only Anemo damage Buffer. Bennett is also a good addition. Xiao recently got an amazing boost in plunge damage with Xianuyn.

What Roles Should a Genshin Party Have?
Classic parties of 4 usually consist of 1 on-field DPS character and 3 Supports. It is not always the case but there are no good Genshin team with 4 on-field Damage Dealers, but there are some great parties with 4 Supports. Some characters combine 2-3 niches so their position is rather fluid. Below you will find descriptions and tier lists for all roles that will help you build a strong team in Genshin Impact.
On-field DPS

All their talents and mechanics are for being an active character and doing damage. It may also include self-buffing and resistance shredding.
Sub-DPS

This is also a Damage Dealers, but their talents let them do damage off-field, appearing on the field to cast their elemental skills/burst and go back. Often these characters can buff your other characters, heal, put on shields, etc.
Support

There are several types of Supports in Genshin Impact:
- Buffers
- Shielders
- Healers
Buffers can really upscale your performance. Often they don’t do a lot of damage themselves, but they increase the stats of other members of your team, make enemies weaker, and even implement new mechanics.
Shielders and Healers don’t let other characters die. It is important to choose Genshin Impact party members for this character role that will improve overall performance. Qiqi, for example, is considered a “bad” character because she can only heal, making the team almost immortal. But this zombie girl works mostly on the field and has nothing else, so, sadly can’t be used if we want to be as efficient as possible
What is the Best Party for Genshin Impact?
Unfortunately, there’s no single best party in Genshin Impact that fits all situations. However, there are several highly effective team compositions that consistently perform well across various content in the game.
Alhaitham Quicken
![]() Alhaitham | ![]() Yae Miko | ![]() Kuki Shinobu | ![]() Nahida |
The team is built around Quicken to find Aggravate elemental reactions. Alhaitham is the main DPS character, Yae Miko is an Electro Sub-Dps with great electro application, and Kuki Shinobu is a Healer and gives Electro resonance which benefits Yae Miko’s Energy Recharge problems. Nahida is the best 5-star Dendro character with a lot of Dendro applications, amazing buff, and great personal damage.
Nilou Bloom
![]() Nilou | ![]() Xingqiu | ![]() Nahida | ![]() Kokomi |
Nilou has a unique mechanic buffing Dendro Cores transforming them into Bountiful Cores implies using Hydro and Dendro team. Hydro resonance is beneficial for both Nilou and Kokomi, Xingqiu is for additional damage, and Nahida gives so many Dendro that her alone is enough for consistent bloom damage.
Hu Tao Vaporize
![]() Hu Tao | ![]() Yelan | ![]() Xingqiu | ![]() Zhongli |
This is a classic Hu Tao team. With Yelan and Xingqiu you’ll get so much Hydro that you get Vaporize reactions on every Hu Tao’s charge attack, Hydro resonance is also good for her. Zhongli as the best Shielder is a great final touch for this team
Raiden Vaporize
![]() Raiden Shogun | ![]() Xiangling | ![]() Xingqiu | ![]() Bennett |
Great variation of the National team. Raiden helps with energy so all the characters can burst consistently.
Xiangling Vaporize
![]() Xiangling | ![]() Xingqiu | ![]() Bennett | ![]() Kazuha |
More reactions are more fun, right?
Ayaka Freeze
![]() Ayaka | ![]() Shenhe | ![]() Kazuha | ![]() Kokomi |
Get some Cryo swirl with Kazuha, put Kokomi’s jellyfish, use Shenhe’s skill and burst, and watch powerful damage on frozen enemies from Ayaka’s burst.
Wriothesley Melt
![]() Wriothesley | ![]() Thoma | ![]() Kazuha | ![]() Bennett |
Wriothesley as a Cryo catalyst deals with Cryo elemental damage every normal attack, so if we want a powerful Melt team we need a lot of Pyro, also his HP loss-regen mechanic needs a Healer or Shielder or both.
Main DPS Navia
![]() Navia | ![]() Zhongli | ![]() Xiangling | ![]() Bennett |
Navia gets used to previously useless crystallized reactions. So Zhongli helps with interruption resistance and Geo resonance, Bennet gives attack buff Xiangling gives Pyro resonance for more attack and more Pyro status for crystallization. Everyone in this team makes Navia deal huge damage
Neuvillette
![]() Neuvillette | ![]() Furina | ![]() Layla | ![]() Kazuha |
Honestly, Neuvillette and Furina are already a powerful team. You can use any character of any element that reacts with Hydro to perform well.
What is the Best Party for Beginners in Genshin Impact?
When we start a new account in Genshin Impact we get several great F2P characters. So use this best F2P Gnshin Impact team for beginners, which you can use for a long time, especially when you get some of their constellations.
Hyper Bloom
![]() Aether (Dendro) | ![]() Colei | ![]() Barbara | ![]() Lisa |
This team works around Dendro reactions, so you don’t need to worry about crit rate, the damage output of individual characters, or attack combos. The source of damage in this team is Dendro Cores which scales from elemental mastery of trigger character – Lisa.
Kaeya Melt
![]() Kaeya | ![]() Amber | ![]() Xiangling | ![]() Lynette |
The team consists of Cryo and Pyro Characters for Melt elemental reaction, and Lynett for consistent Pyro-swirl reaction from her elemental burst. Xianling is a great 4-star Pyro Damage Dealer, Amber is for Pyro resonance and energy particles for Xianling.
Noelle DPS
![]() Noelle | ![]() Aether (Geo) | ![]() Xiangling | ![]() Kaeya |
Double-Geo team comp for good Noelle personal damage, Xianling, and Kaeya are needed for additional Melts.
Vaporise
![]() Lumine (Hydro) | ![]() Barbara | ![]() Xiangling | ![]() Lynette |
Another good F2P team with starter characters. Vaporize reactions are one of the strongest in the game.
In this guide, we discussed only basic logic for party composition in Genshin Impact. There are many more unique parties you can build depending on what characters and their constellations you have.
