What Roles Should a Genshin Party Have?

Classic parties of 4 usually consist of 1 on-field DPS character and 3 Supports. It is not always the case but there are no good Genshin team with 4 on-field Damage Dealers, but there are some great parties with 4 Supports. Some characters combine 2-3 niches so their position is rather fluid. Below you will find descriptions and tier lists for all roles that will help you build a strong team in Genshin Impact.

On-field DPS

All their talents and mechanics are for being an active character and doing damage. It may also include self-buffing and resistance shredding.

Sub-DPS

This is also a Damage Dealers, but their talents let them do damage off-field, appearing on the field to cast their elemental skills/burst and go back. Often these characters can buff your other characters, heal, put on shields, etc.

Support

There are several types of Supports in Genshin Impact:

• Buffers
• Shielders
• Healers

Buffers can really upscale your performance. Often they don’t do a lot of damage themselves, but they increase the stats of other members of your team, make enemies weaker, and even implement new mechanics.

Nilou has a unique mechanic buffing Dendro Cores transforming them into Bountiful Cores implies using Hydro and Dendro team. Hydro resonance is beneficial for both Nilou and Kokomi, Xingqiu is for additional damage, and Nahida gives so many Dendro that her alone is enough for consistent bloom damage.

Hu Tao Vaporize

This is a classic Hu Tao team. With Yelan and Xingqiu you’ll get so much Hydro that you get Vaporize reactions on every Hu Tao’s charge attack, Hydro resonance is also good for her. Zhongli as the best Shielder is a great final touch for this team
