Gears of War: E-Day Multiplayer Overview

Gears of War: E-Day Overview

Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer will be cooperative Horde Siege and Versus gameplay. In Horde Siege, 12 players will be playing in three squads. In Versus, there will be 4v4 matches, and both teams will start with the same amount of equipment. Here are the Gears E-Day multiplayer modes.

  • Horde Siege — PvE: Complete squad missions, fight Locust, and extract from a battlefield shared with two other squads.
  • Team Deathmatch — PvP: Eliminate opponents until their team runs out of lives.
  • Conquest — PvP: Control the active zone long enough to score before the fight moves elsewhere.
  • Demolition — PvP: Secure the neutral bomb, plant it at an enemy site, and defend it until detonation.
  • Crucible — PvP: Carry the Power Core inside the scoring zone while your teammates protect its carrier.

Gears of War: E-Day Horde Siege

Gears of War: E-Day Overview

In Gears of War: E-Day Horde Siege, there is capacity for 12 players in three squads, with each squad consisting of four players. While carrying out their mission, each squad operates independently but occupies the same battlefield as the rest. Players can assist one another, and the gear left behind by earlier squads stays with the arrival of new players.

The Invasion Events feature in Gears E-Day Horde Siege involve the appearance of Corpsers and Brumaks. The invasion event may involve all the squads in one battle, thus affecting the normal mission. You should keep track of your neighboring squads since their assistance may come in handy.

Gears of War: E-Day Horde Siege Classes

Gears of War: E-Day Horde Siege classes define your starting loadout, passive bonuses, and Tactical Gear. Your character skin does not determine your class, and squads can bring duplicate roles. The Gears E-Day class list includes four options with different combat strengths.

  • Assault: A flexible midrange class with bonus damage while using cover. Its Sonic Disruptor stuns incoming enemies.
  • Breacher: A close-range class that resists status effects and melee damage. Its Adrenaline Injector restores health and reduces incoming damage.
  • Marksman: A precision class with extra critical damage. Its Pulse Drone marks Locust for your squad.
  • Medic: A support class with faster health regeneration. Its Stim Vaporizer heals and revives nearby Gears, including players from other squads.

The recommended setup for your first Horde Siege for E-Day is to have a Medic in your squad and balance the remaining positions. This way, your team will have at least one option to recover while still leaving you room to explore various strategies. The positions you can have are Assault, Breacher, or Marksman.

Gears of War: E-Day Horde Siege Class Progression

Level progression for Gears of War: E-Day Horde Siege is 30 levels for each role upon release. Advancement in level progression will give you the opportunity to gain loadout weapons, gear, Armor Mods, Tactical Gear Mods, and Weapon Mods. Every single class has its own progression tree, and it’s not related to Player Level.

Weapons Modifications in Gears of War E-Day Horde Siege require Weapon Parts after unlocking them through leveling up in a certain class. Once you modify the weapon, you can use it in all the classes, as the modification is universal for every character.

Gears of War: E-Day Horde Siege Playlists

When time is a concern, there are multiple ways to play Gears E-Day Horde Siege playlists depending on the length of your session. Blitz is faster, Siege has additional objectives, and Horde requires your squad to defend one spot throughout the mission. The following session lengths are approximations only.

PlaylistMission StructureEstimated Length
BlitzOne or two objectives15–20 minutes
SiegeSeveral objectives across the battlefield20–40 minutes
HordeDefend a position through ten waves50–60 minutes

Gears of War: E-Day Horde Siege Mission Objectives

Most E-Day Horde Siege missions revolve around the R.I.G., a device that scans underground Locust tunnels. Your squad may clear enemies, hold zones, recover components, or defend the device during its scan. The following Horde Siege objectives explain the five mission types.

  • Secure: Clear an occupied area.
  • Calibrate: Hold a sequence of zones near the R.I.G.
  • Repair: Recover and reinstall missing R.I.G. components.
  • Defend: Protect the R.I.G. while it scans.
  • Horde: Keep the R.I.G. alive through ten waves.

Your squad shares Energy in Gears E-Day Horde Siege, although players make their own purchases. Supply Caches provide weapons, equipment, and Squad Perks, while Energy also pays for turret construction and upgrades. Discuss expensive purchases before spending the resources your teammates may need.

Gears of War: E-Day Versus Modes

Gears of War: E-Day Overview

In PvP mode, Gears of War: E-Day Versus involves 4v4 teams in four game launch modes. The multiplayer modes of Gears E-Day include team elimination and objective-based game modes such as bomb, Zone Conquest, and Power Core. One can begin with Team Deathmatch as the initial gameplay mode and then explore other objective-based modes through a well-coordinated team. The following table describes the E-Day Versus modes.

ModeMain ObjectiveRule to Learn
Team DeathmatchExhaust the opposing team’s livesWatch the team life pool and changing respawn locations

DemolitionPlant the neutral bomb at an enemy siteThe planting team loses respawns after arming; three detonations win
CrucibleCarry the Power Core inside the scoring zoneThe zone moves and shrinks; the carrier can use an electrical attack

Gears of War: E-Day Multiplayer Maps

When you start Gears of War: E-Day, there are six Versus maps in the multiplayer part. Their paths contain elements like visibility, enclosed spaces, high ground, and crossing paths. This Gears of War: E-Day map chart will help you identify them before finding out the Power Weapon paths.

Gears of War: E-Day Ranked

Competitive players can take part in Gears of War: E-Day Ranked from October 13, a week after the game’s launch. Early access does not move the start of the competitive event. Use the time for practice to get familiar with the maps, objectives, and weapons used in the game.

Skill rating and rank are calculated separately in each E-Day Ranked playlist by its own. Placements will be used to determine the starting point, while Skill Division will help the matchmaking system understand the player’s skill level. Rank Rating increases with victories and decreases with losses, depending on both performance and Skill Division.

Gears of War: E-Day Progression and Rewards

Your Gears of War: E-Day progression combines Player Level, Re-Ups, Horde class levels, and Medals. Player Level reaches 100, and four Re-Ups create a total progression path of 500 levels. Horde classes progress separately, so leveling your account does not automatically finish your class builds.

Completionists can also chase Gears E-Day Medals, with more than 80 series available at launch. Each series advances through Bronze, Silver, Gold, Onyx, and Diamond tiers. Diamond completion awards an exclusive Player Title, giving completionists another long-term goal alongside leveling.

Coins, Iron, and Cosmetic Unlocks

For cosmetic purchases, Gears of War: E-Day rewards include Coins earned through matches, level milestones, and Medals. Match-earned Coins have a weekly cap, while Medal and level milestone Coins do not count toward it. Iron provides an optional paid currency for cosmetic purchases.

There is no Gears E-Day Battle Pass or Tour of Duty. Most cosmetics come from challenges, achievements, Medals, or Coins spent in the Barracks. Premium content, charity offers, and certain partnerships form exceptions, so not every cosmetic follows the same unlock route.

Each set of Gears E-Day weekly challenges includes six Horde tasks and six Versus tasks. Seasons add 20 challenges, while each event brings five themed tasks. Foundations challenges remain available without an expiry, making them a useful starting point for new players.

After a cooldown, missed Gears E-Day seasonal rewards can enter the Barracks. While a challenge remains active, you must complete its task to earn the attached reward. That gives you a reason to check current challenges before spending Coins on another cosmetic.

Gears of War: E-Day Gameplay Changes

Gears of War: E-Day gameplay expands movement, cover interactions, and weapon handling. These changes affect familiar habits, especially when crossing exposed ground or tracking targets at longer ranges. The following E-Day gameplay changes are worth learning before your first competitive session.

  • Sliding: Slide from a sprint and fire while moving.
  • Traversal: Jump, climb, and mantle without entering cover first.
  • Cover: Use lower cover and move through gaps beneath obstacles.
  • Shoulder swapping: Switch your aiming shoulder to suit the angle.
  • Projectile travel: Lead moving targets when distance makes travel time noticeable.
  • Partial reloads: Reload the Gnasher and Breechshot round by round; the Gnasher holds six shells.

Gears of War: E-Day Season 1 and Roadmap

The first Gears of War: E-Day season, Emergence, runs from October 1 through December 1, 2026. Early access and standard launch players receive the same initial weekly challenges, with the first refresh on October 13. Season 1 also includes the following Gears E-Day events, each lasting two weeks.

  • Halloween: A themed Versus mode, Horde Siege mission, and rewards.
  • 20 Years of Gears: Anniversary event content and rewards.
  • Thanksgibbing: Another themed event with Versus and Horde activities.

After Emergence, the Gears E-Day roadmap names Legacy as Season 2, followed by Infiltration, Pendulum, and Devotion. The Coalition has also announced an anniversary gift for November 7. Exact future season dates and event start dates still need separate announcements.

Gears of War: E-Day Campaign

The Gears of War: E-Day campaign follows Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago during the first Locust attacks. The story takes place in Kalona, 14 years before the original game. Its events unfold across three days as the city fights to survive the invasion. You can experience the campaign solo or with friends.

Gears of War: E-Day Co-Op

Gears of War: E-Day co-op supports up to four players online in the campaign. Xbox Series X|S players can also use two-player split-screen. Online console play requires a Game Pass tier that includes console multiplayer.

Gears of War: E-Day Crossplay

Gears of War: E-Day crossplay connects Xbox and PC players in multiplayer. Xbox Play Anywhere also shares progression between Xbox consoles and the Xbox PC version for supported purchases. Steam remains a separate storefront, so Play Anywhere does not include a second Steam copy.
