- Apparition Incursion Events
- Boss Ladder Rework
- Reliquaries

And that’s not all! Another remarkable feature that D4 Belial’s Return brings is crafting Mythic Uniques with Resplendent Sparks. This resource is hard to get and easy to waste. Therefore, we advise you to learn How to Get Resplendent Sparks with our guide to be sure that every Spark you meet on your way will come in handy.
Diablo 4 Lord of Lies Questline
The new Diablo IV Season 8 questline, “Lord of Lies”, in Diablo 4 is available once you complete the Diablo IV base campaign. Once Season 8 starts, hop on your new seasonal character and visit the Stranger in Kyovashad to begin the storyline. And if you are not done with the Campaign yet, don’t waste your time. Just ask our pro players to do it for you and proceed with the new content.
The quests will have you track down clues about Belial’s plot and face the new threats he’s created. Don’t worry if you’re not familiar with Diablo 4’s seasonal format — even if you’re a newer player, the quest will introduce the new mechanics as you progress. By following the questline, you’ll naturally engage with Season 8’s main features like the Boss Powers and Apparition events, which we’ll explain next.
Diablo 4 Apparition Incursion Events
To facilitate the new Boss Power system, Belial’s Return introduces a brand new open-world event type called Diablo 4 Apparition Incursions. Participating in Apparition Incursions is one of the best ways to level up quickly and earn powers during Season 8.
But what are Apparitions? In the lore, they are illusory foot soldiers conjured by Belial’s magic. During a Diablo IV Apparition Incursion event, you’ll see regular enemies marked with Belial’s green eye symbol on their bodies. Slaying these enemies in large numbers will summon much stronger enemies — Apparition Bosses. Here’s how an Apparition Incursion event in Diablo IV plays out in gameplay:
- The event spawns periodically in different zones of Sanctuary. It occurs every few minutes.
- Any level character on any World Tier can participate in the Apparition Incursion.
- When you arrive at the event location, you’ll fight waves of enemies and Apparition-marked monsters. Killing them will trigger an Apparition Boss to appear.
- There are 10 different Apparition Bosses that can spawn. Each one can give you a unique Boss Power.
- The first time you do an Apparition Incursion, you’ll fight two bosses in succession: one boss comes after you cut down the initial wave, and after defeating that, a second wave builds and another boss appears.
- Defeating Belial’s apparition will complete the event. Each Apparition Boss you kill will grant you its Boss Power on first kill, so a single full event can net you two Boss Powers.
Make sure to Check Your Build before embarking on this journey. Apparitions are quite powerful enemies, so our team will ensure that you are good to go and help to deal with any possible build drawbacks.
Diablo 4 Apparition Incursion Reputation
In addition to extensive combats and powerful bosses, you will face a Diablo 4 Season 8 Reputation system tied to seasonal activities. As you defeat Belial’s apparitions and complete Apparition Incursion events, you’ll earn a currency called Reputation.
This can be exchanged for caches that contain useful items — for example, a cache might hold extra Boss Keys or other rare crafting materials. Think of Diablo IV Reputation in Belial’s Return as a bonus reward track for actively participating in the seasonal content. It’s another incentive to keep clearing those events and hunting bosses throughout the season.
Diablo 4 Boss Ladder Rework
In the new season, the Diablo 4 Boss Ladder received a complete overhaul, resulting in a new system of bosses known as the Lair Boss system. Previously, you needed to collect rare materials to summon Uber bosses. It was available to all level players and often led to complete resource waste if you wiped mid-combat in your low-tier armor.
This whole new Lair Bosses system was designed to make leveling and progressing obligatory. Now, you have to reach certain milestones and have decent progress in the endgame to be able to kill higher-level bosses.
For more details about this rework, read our comprehensive Diablo 4 Lair Bosses System guide.
However, one thing remains unchanged — the final boss is the toughest, and encountering it will take not only courage, but also a lot of patience and resources. Anyway, if you are looking for easier ways to deal with Belial, Lord of Lies, we can help you with it. Our pro players are training hard to ensure that the boss kill will be yours.
Diablo 4 Reliquaries
In previous Diablo 4 seasons, the Battle Pass followed a strict linear format where players unlocked cosmetic rewards tier by tier simply by gaining Favor (season XP). However, the system faced a lot of backlash for being rigid and forcing players to claim items they didn’t necessarily want.
In Season 8 Belial’s Return, Blizzard is overhauling the Battle Pass into something completely new: the Diablo IV Reliquary system. This change finally considers the player’s choice and offers a much more flexible way to chase the cosmetics you really care about.
Diablo 4 How Reliquaries Work
Instead of one massive 90-tier track, the Battle Pass is now split into several Diablo 4 Reliquaries. Each Reliquary acts like a themed cache of rewards that you unlock by spending Favor Tokens. The key change is freedom of choice — you decide which Reliquary to spend your progress on. It essentially means that you control the order of rewards instead of being stuck on a fixed path.
Your primary aim in the current season will be earning Favor through activities like quests and dungeons. They will now fill a progress bar. Instead of automatically unlocking a tier, you’ll periodically earn Favor Tokens. These Tokens let you purchase specific rewards from any Reliquary you have access to, and you can choose your own unlock order based on what you actually want.
Quick facts about Diablo 4 Favor Tokens in Belial’s Return:
- You can hold up to 99 at a time
- Unused Tokens carry over to future seasons
- Spending Tokens is flexible — prioritize the coolest cosmetics first
How do you like the system with a Favor-farming focus? It will be an exciting yet challenging experience. To make it even better, you can get a special Mythic Tier Bundle to make your character fully prepared for easy Favor farming and dealing with any type of content.
Diablo 4 Available Reliquaries in Season 8
In Diablo 4 Season 8, you can choose between four different Reliquaries:
- Belial’s Return Reliquary (Free) — Available to all players, likely includes cosmetics and Smoldering Ashes for Season Blessings.
- Weapons Reliquary (Premium) — Focused on weapon-themed cosmetics.
- Beasts Reliquary (Premium) — Offers cosmetics themed around creatures and beasts.
- Armor Reliquary (Premium) — Features armor-themed cosmetics.
To unlock the three premium Reliquaries, you either need the Premium Battle Pass (costs 1000 Platinum) or you can buy them separately (each costing between 200 and 800 Platinum, or bundled together for 1000 Platinum).
A big improvement in Season 8 is the ability to preview all Reliquary rewards from day one. You can see everything that’s available in Belial’s Return, Weapons, Beasts, and Armor Reliquaries without any guesswork. This means you’ll know exactly which Reliquary contains that mount skin, armor set, or weapon skin you’re looking for.
Diablo 4 Leveling Changes
Diablo IV Season 8 isn’t just adding content — it’s also tuning the core gameplay based on feedback from Season 7. Two big areas of change are the leveling speed in Diablo 4 and the loot drop pacing, especially early on. Blizzard felt that Season 7’s progression was too fast and granted players powerful loot too quickly. In Season 8, they are dialing things back a bit to make the journey more satisfying and long-lasting. The key changes in the Diablo 4 leveling process include:
- Slower Leveling Curve
- Less Legendary Loot Early On
- Rebalanced World Tier Entry
- No Mid-Season Nerf Patch
Slower Leveling Curve
Developers have rebalanced XP gains so that leveling will take longer than it did last season. The goal is to make reaching max level feel like an achievement again. Perhaps only ~10% of players will get to the hardest content, rather than ~50% as before.
This change means you should expect to spend a bit more time in the level 1–50 and 50–100 brackets. In practice, you’ll likely have to complete more activities or dungeons to hit 100, and power leveling will be toned down. But don’t worry — our hardcore pro players will still be able to reach Any Desired Level as fast as possible, which means you will be among the top 10% players who faced the darkest corners of the endgame.
Less Legendary Loot Early On
As the developers aim to make the game slower and more challenging, there will be less Legendary loot in the early stages. Diablo 4 early game will be more dominated by Magic (blue) and Rare (yellow) drops. You’ll have to make do with regular items and find upgrades the old-fashioned way for a bit longer.
As you get into Diablo IV Belial’s Return higher levels and World Tiers, legendary and unique drops will increase to keep progression moving. In short, the item curve is smoothed out: you won’t be decked in legendaries by level 30 anymore, but you’ll still get plenty of them by endgame.
No Mid-Season Nerf Patch
In line with making progression feel stable, Blizzard announced it will stop doing mid-season balance patches unless absolutely necessary. In past seasons, a mid-season patch sometimes nerfed popular builds or changed loot, which could spoil the experience. Starting Season 8, they plan to only issue emergency fixes in the first week, and otherwise let the season ride out as launched.
This one seems to be the best update, as it means that S-tier builds will hold their positions throughout the season and will save up tons of your time that could previously be spent on respecing.
Diablo 4 New Items
No Diablo 4 season is complete without new loot to find. Diablo IV Season 8 introduces new Unique items and Legendary Aspects to support the gameplay changes and new powers. Each class gets at least one new Unique and aspect that synergizes with their updated skills or the Boss Powers mechanic. Here are a few highlights of the new gear in Season 8:

Diablo 4 Season 8 Quality of Life Improvements
In the upcoming season of Diablo 4 you will not only enjoy the gameplay, but also the way the game was improved in terms of quality of life. Here we have gathered a full list of QoL changes in Diablo IV Season 8:
- Stash and Inventory Upgrades — Gems no longer clutter your inventory (moved to Materials tab), stash space is expanded, and new search, filter, and tagging options make gear management much faster.
- Teleport to Party Member — You can now instantly teleport to any party member across the map without needing town portals — perfect for events, quests, or quick regrouping.
- Map Icons and Navigation — Boss lairs and dungeons now have distinct icons, improving map clarity; visibility and navigation tweaks make finding objectives smoother.
- Tooltip Accuracy — Tooltips now better explain mechanics, showing multiplicative bonuses (like “[x]”) and reducing the need to guess or check external guides.
- Shrine Adjustments — Conduit Shrines were removed (due to underperformance), possibly making room for more impactful shrine types like Empowered or Greed.
- Miscellaneous Updates — Seasonal powers like “Frog” won’t carry into the Eternal Realm, and bosses are now designed for smarter fights rather than simply boosting HP.
In this Diablo 4 Season 8 Campfire Overview, we explored the Apparition Incursion events and the collectible Boss Powers system. We also covered the extensive Doablo IV Lair Boss rework, which makes endgame boss fights more accessible and rewarding — a change that will benefit Diablo 4 permanently. All in all, Season 8 isn’t just about new challenges; it’s also about a better player experience.
