The Diablo 4 Dance of Knives build is all about the speed, precision, and deadly efficiency of Rogues. It grants a player the capability to gracefully dance through enemies in close combat with maximum damage. Master key abilities and optimize the right gear in our guide to turn your Rogue into a whirling storm of blades that will cut through elites and bosses alike without cessation.
Dance of Knives Overview
Diablo 4 Dance of Knives Rogue is a viable endgame build with great speedfarming, survivability, and a very smooth playstyle. The skill that you are channeling most of the time is the Dance of Knives. However, it is not the source of the damage.
Now, a large portion of the damage comes from Poison Trap and Contamination. This is due to Poison Imbuement and Bursting Venoms while you are spinning. This is similar to a trap-focused endgame build.
Diablo 4 Dance of Knives Build points:
- Dance of Knives is the primary channeling skill;
- The build is now part of the Season 12 Slaughter framework;
- A large portion of the damage output comes from Poison Trap and Contamination;
- Preparation is the current version of the build for restoring the charges of the Dance of Knives;
- The build is fast, easy to play, and viable for the endgame.
In summary, the current version of the guide should no longer start with the statement that the Dance of Knives Rogue is a leveling build with weak endgame performance. This is because it is a fast endgame build with moderate pushing and bossing, survivability, and a damage output loop of Poison Trap, Death Trap, and Dance of Knives.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Dance of Knives Rogue build is overall good, but to be fully prepared to play, you need to know all of its pros and cons:
| Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|
| ✅Massive AoE damage | ⛔️Not Spiritborn |
| ✅Mobility | ⛔️Not massive damage for single-target |
| ✅Easy gameplay | ⛔️Need to move to deal lots of damage |
Build Requirements
For the Dance of Knives Rogue build, you don’t need any specific Unique or Legendary items. The only thing we advise you to get is the Star Shards, as this aspect empowers your core skill and allows for more maneuvers. All in all, you can choose any item or Legendary Aspect from the Best Gear section of this guide — they all will work perfectly fine.
Dance of Knives Horadric Spell
📌In Diablo 4 Season 12, the seasonal Horadric Spell no longer provide valuable bonuses.
Disintegrate is the best Catalyst choice for Dance of Knives Rogues due to its long uptime and reliability. Here’s what to focus on when working on your Dance of Knives Horadric Spell:
- Corrosive Vapor Infusion is employed to apply poison, opening up Alchemical Advantage for Attack Speed bonuses.
- In Arcana, Fractured Core cancels enemy damage reduction, Gleaming Conduit spreads your beam for better targeting, and Bloody Charm offers an elite finish for a massive damage spike.
- Optional Arcana like Sapping Crux can increase Vulnerable uptime if acquired early.
- For Jewels, utilize Idol From Below for easy elites and Pit progress, Reverie Horn for Shadow Clone buffs, and Myriad Stone for steady Attack Speed.
Dance of Knives Skill Tree
In this section, you can find the Dance of Knives Skill Tree. Anchored by fast, close-quarters combat, this tree gives you a devastating opportunity to deal damage as you are nimbly and with no effort avoid the enemy’s attack.
There are 71 skill points distributed in the skill tree, and you can get the missing points from Althars of Lilith that our team can find and activate for you. There’s no need to place the Puncture skill on a skill bar because we take it for skill tree progression. Also, you can choose Disciplined Shadow Step instead of Dash for the Unstoppable buff, to dodge Crowd Control.
You can try our recommended skill bar, but you can swap any buttons as you want:
Rogue Specialization for Dance of Knives
In the current version of the Diablo IV Dance of Knives build in the endgame, the appropriate specialization is Preparation. The reason for this is that it is a mechanical choice and not simply a preference swap because it grants you more Dance of Knives charges when you use Death Trap.
Read more about Rogue specializations and class mechanics in our Diablo 4 Rogue Guide.

Dance of Knives Rotation
The Diablo IV Dance of Knives Rogue rotation is based on Poison Imbuement, Poison Trap, Death Trap, and Dance of Knives charges with Preparation and Exposure. A significant part of your real damage will come from Poison Trap and Contamination, not just from spinning.
Diablo 4 Dance of Knives Skill Rotation:
- Always keep Poison Imbuement up so it can proc Poison Trap with Bursting Venoms.
- Always use Death Trap to get the bonuses from No Witnesses and Vehement Brawler’s.
- Drink a Healing Potion to activate Unstable Elixirs.
- Start with Dance of Knives, spinning and moving.
- Use Poison Imbuement frequently to recharge Energy for the next Qax proc.
- Use Death Trap to reset Dance of Knives charges with Exposure.
- Use Concealment if needed, for permanent Unstoppable, which resets with Preparation.
The idea is simple: keep spinning, keep Poison Imbuement up, and do not waste Death Trap resets. The new build is much more trap-oriented than the old one, so this section should be rewritten based on Poison Trap, Preparation, and Exposure.
Paragon Boards for Dance of Knives

Paragon Boards were reworked in the Diablo 4 Sins of the Horadrim expansion. Now they unlock on level 60, and you get one paragon point from one level (instead of 3). You have 300 levels and 328 total paragon points (adding 24 from renown and 4 from Althars of Lilith). Also, Paragon levels are shared across the characters.
| Order | Board | Glyph |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Start | Ambush |
| 2 | Deadly Ambush | Headhunter |
| 3 | Cheap Shot | Canny |
| 4 | Leyrana’s Instinct | Snare |
| 5 | No Witnesses | Versatility |
Always check your board rotation carefully before committing to Glyph levels. Glyph radius still increases at 15 and 46, and some bonuses cannot activate before those breakpoints. Paragon nodes are an endgame mechanic that allows you to empower your character and build more restructureable. And we can help you get the desired number of skill points with our Paragon Level service.
Glyph Leveling Priorities
When you level up the Paragon Board, you open Normal Nodes and Legendary Nodes. And some of these nodes have slots for glyphs. Here’s a Glyph priority order:
| To Level 15 | To Level 46 |
|---|---|
| 1. Ambush | 1. Ambush |
| 2. Versatility | 2. Versatility |
| 3. Snare | 3. Snare |
| 4. Canny | 4. Canny |
| 5. Headhunter | 5. Headhunter |
You can always upgrade your glyphs in dungeons, but this is quite a tough task, as you’ll need to grind, like, a lot. However, our team is ready to help and can assist you with the Glyph Leveling anytime.
