Welcome to the Deadlock Tier List — an ultimate source of the best heroes in the current meta. In this comprehensive guide, we are going to cover all the hero tiers from S to D, break down in detail the position of each hero, and provide tips on the best hero for each Deadlock role. Don’t forget to check our Deadlock Seven Build to meet the S-Tier champion and learn its skills and optimal items.
All Deadlock Heroes Ranked
Currently, there are 21 heroes in Deadlock. Once you get into the game, you can choose any hero because there are no restrictions or role divisions. In choosing, most of the players depend on the visual aspect and just take what they like.
This kind of approach afterward might bring dissatisfaction if you lose a game because your character is out of meta. So, to avoid this, we prepared an elaborate Deadlock Character Tier List in which heroes are ranked by their power and win rate. The basic ranking system used for our guide is S–to–D Tiers.
So with the great variety of characters existing in Deadlock, we need to understand which of them perform best of all and which are on the weak side. Knowing the ranks will help you to understand if your favorite hero is the top one, or to find out who’s Deadlock best character. In the table below you can find the Deadlock Heroes Ranking and their current win rate:
S-Tier
Characters in this tier would be meta-dominant in a way no one could even touch due to the sheer, unparalleled power, versatility, and synergy across all states of in-game phases. Speaking about S-Tier heroes, we can name:
- Seven;
- Haze.
Seven
Seven (58,5% Win Rate) is honestly so favored, with his burst-fire weapon and versatile kit, having high mobility, strong poke, and CC potential. He does great farming with the Lightning Ball and Static Charge, combining it with farming and fight control in one, really making him that S-tier pick for early aggression but also late-game team fights.
Haze
Haze (53,2% Win Rate) is an extremely powerful champion in the current meta, bringing with her a couple of strong crowd controls and AoE damage abilities, which make this hero viable in team fights and wave clearing. She really messes up the positioning of enemies while dealing consistent damage and using her Sleep Dagger or Bullet Dance.
A-Tier
Strong and consistent picks; these characters perform extremely well in most situations and provide great value but without the overwhelming presence of the S-Tier features and spells. In the A-Tier we can find:
- Warden;
- McGinnis;
- Abrams.
Warden
Warden (52,9% Win Rate) is a very, very versatile character, much like his bullet-damage assassin class counterpart. He has the reputation of a lot of mobility with great burst potential. His Alchemical Flask allows him to do consistent damage in skirmishes while an ability such as Last Stand has amazing utility during a fight since it amplifies his attack power if his health goes below a certain point. Warden does great in mid-to-late game with core items that enhance his mobility and attack speed; however, early game for him can be a bit weaker.
McGinnis
McGinnis (51,9% Win Rate) is a good support character who deploys his turrets and healing spirits in order to help back up his teammates. She deploys her Mini Turret that automatically targets enemies for continued pressure on them. Her Medicinal Specter heals nearby allies. McGinnis does well in lane control and long-range support, but with her reliance on setup abilities, she does very poorly in highly mobile chaotic fights.
Abrams
Abrams (51,4% Win Rate) is a strong, absorptive-type tank for space and teammate accommodation. His Siphon Life can help you in draining health from enemies, while Shoulder Charge can give you the mobility to engage and collide with enemy heroes. While Abrams had solid defensive setups, his overall slower movement and reliance on more tanky-focused setups within a match make him less versatile in fast-paced fights.
B-Tier
Heroes in this tier are solid picks with some really good utility, but more situational strengths or weaknesses that make them far from dominant. The heroes in B-Tier are:
- Kelvin;
- Mo & Krill;
- Lady Geist;
- Lash;
- Pocket;
- Yamato; Wraith;
- Bebop;
- Infernus.
Kelvin
Kelvin (51,3% Win Rate), for example, has skills such as Frost Grenade and Arctic Beam, which are much more oriented to crowd control-attacking enemies and keeping his team’s pace. His utility shines in specific matchups, but his low damage output and reliance on slows put him behind more aggressive heroes.
Mo & Krill
This tanky duo of Mo & Krill (51,3% Win Rate) does well in synergy and team play, as Burrow provides mobility, while Scorn self-heals. They do great in team-oriented compositions but somewhat lack the damage output.
Lady Geist
Lady Geist (51,2% Win Rate) is a life-draining bruiser-alike who does well in long, sustained fights with her Life Drain skill and ultimate, Soul Exchange. She does very well in a tank-heavy meta, but easily gets countered once she’s outnumbered, which keeps her from the top tier.
Lash
Lash (49,7% Win Rate) is a high-mobility fighter with abilities such as Grapple and Death Slam ultimate in order to place control on enemies and to dive in and out of combat. Though deadly if done properly, his reliance on hard combinations to be effective makes him harder to master and only keeps him in Tier B.
Pocket (49,5% Win Rate) is a shotgun carry that leverages Barrage and Enchanter’s Satchel for damage while keeping yourself safe from the enemy team. The most important part is that you must always be thinking of where your outs are and understand how your spells work to maximize performance.
Yamato
The Yamato (49,1% Win Rate) is a blast of an explosive hero because, through Power Slash and Flying Strike, he really develops great dueling potential. Great in 1v1, he is even worse at team fights with no ulti, having super limited range and little to no crowd control, making him less versatile in big battles.
Wraith
Wraith (49,3% Win Rate) really qualifies as an excellent split pusher for your team. This hero uses Project Mind in order to teleport and Telekinesis to control enemies, and he feels great while coming out and getting away from a fight. However, this hero excels in the isolation of key targets but ultimately fails at maintaining damage in prolonged fights and is hence less reliable in a team-oriented composition.
Bebop
Bebop (49,3% Win Rate) is a character with a Hook, which can be cast both on enemies and friendly targets. While he can create chaos, his reliance on timing and positioning makes him less consistent in chaotic battles, lacking the survivability of top-tier characters.
Infernus
Infernus (48,6% Win Rate) brings devastating fire-based AoE and DoT damage with abilities like Flame Dash and Afterburn, but his lack of mobility makes him more vulnerable in fast-paced team fights. His strength lies in punishing grouped enemies, but he’s easy to counter if caught out.
C-Tier
These tier heroes struggle to keep up with the current meta, often finding themselves outclassed or relegated to a very niche team comp or strategy. In the C-Tier you can find the following heroes:
- Ivy;
- Viscous;
- Dynamo;
- Shiv;
- Grey Talon.
Ivy
Ivy (49.3% Win Rate) is a jack-of-all-trades support hybrid, mixing up crowd control from Kudzu Bomb and healing from Watcher’s Covenant, depending on what the team needs. She’s less specialized and impactful compared to higher-tier supports.
Viscous
Viscous (48.6% Win Rate) is a super tanky mysterious champion that really controls areas with Splatter and Puddle Punch, and can soak a great amount of damage with The Cube while controlling key zones. He is super slow in terms of mobility and, therefore, predictable, quite kiteable, and vulnerable to range damage.
Dynamo
Dynamo (47.2% Win Rate) is a utility-based support who has very great buff Quantum Entanglement and AoE healing ability Rejuvenating Aurora but otherwise is really bad at giving damage, which only makes him less effective in fast-paced and heavy damage compositions.
Shiv
Focused on close combat and one burst of damage, Shiv (47.6% Win Rate) is doing great in skirmishes but lacks survivability along with mobility, hence he usually falls behind in the events when he cannot take down targets quickly.
Grey Talon
The high-skill sniper Grey Talon (46.4% Win Rate) is lethal from range. The hero has slowing abilities like Serrated Knives, and high mobility from Slice and Dice, but is severely punished in close quarters because of how fragile the hero is and how few options it has to escape a fight.
D-Tier
Heroes who end up in D-Tier are the low performers and are hard to optimize. These always take lots of extra effort to make work — often requiring specialized knowledge. So, the D-Tier heroes are:
- Paradox;
- Vindicta.
Paradox
A time-manipulating caster, Paradox (44.7% Win Rate) has powerful burst potential with Time Wall, and it has a swap ability Paradoxical Swap. But Paradox is highly reliant on perfect timing and positioning, which makes him inconsistent and vulnerable in chaotic fights.
Vindicta
A high-damage brawler, Vindicta (44.1% Win Rate) is perfect in duels due to Crow Familiar and Assassinate. However, she struggles with low mobility and poor defenses, making her an easy target for crowd control and focus fire in team scenarios.
Deadlock Best Hero for Beginners
It is worth noting that Deadlock has relatively new gameplay and mechanics, so for the newcomers, this Valve game can be a bit overwhelming. Aside from learning the items and understanding the strategy for each game phase, you also need to pick a hero that is easy enough to play for the first time. Though the list of heroes isn’t huge yet, you still can have trouble understanding who is who. Therefore, here’s a list of the most beginner-friendly Deadlock heroes:
- Dynamo is a support-type hero with strong shields and energizers. He’s great for new players learning the ropes of providing utility to their teammates.
- Seven is an agile, straightforward assassin that’s easy to pick up for players looking to simply focus on their mobility and high burst damage.
- Haze is an area controller that makes use of debuffs. For a new player, he’s a pretty versatile guy that doesn’t rely on overly complicated mechanics.
- Abrams is a sturdy, resilient tank with unsophisticated defenses and means of crowd control, which will be good for learning the ABCs of front-line playing.
- Wraith is a stealth class, with very simple cloak-and-strike mechanics, fitting for players learning how to ambush.
- McGinnis is a supportive damage dealer, with simple damage output and long-range skills, teaching the beginner how to aim and position.
- Grey Talon has excellent capabilities, is highly mobile, and has long-range attacks; this would be a hero players who have started transitioning into more strategic gameplay would love.
- Bebop is a heavyweight brawler, with durable, straightforward melee attacks. Good to practice close-range combat.
- Infernus can be described as an AOE damage dealer with understandable fire-based area attacks; good for zoning and crowd control.
- Kelvin is heavy, and tanky, and has high survivability, and basic control. He’s a great teacher of how to take the incoming damage and support the team.
Deadlock Best Matchups
Matches in Deadlock require 6 players in each team, therefore, your hero will cooperate with 5 other heroes trying to win. Sometimes you only need good coordination and skill to win a game, but your chances are higher if all the heroes and their abilities can complement each other and form a perfect synergy. Here you can find the top heroes list for your matchup and use it as a guide for your upcoming matches:

Deadlock Heroes Role Ranking
The characters in Deadlock are not set in concrete within rigid roles, as is common in most team-based games. But still, we can type them into three flexible categories based on their abilities: Carries, Tanks, and Support Heroes. These roles take after classical archetypes known as Tanks, DPS, and Supports, respectively, from games such as Valve’s Dota 2, Overwatch, or League of Legends. But in Deadlock there’s far more fluidity and character-specific twists. So let’s outline the best Deadlock Heroes by their role.
Deadlock Best Carry
Carry Heroes, on the other hand, are oriented at precise strikes and efficient damage. Carry can deal massive damage to enemies, both in single-target fights and in AoE situations, depending on the hero. The examples of the best heroes on the Carry role include Seven, Haze, Ivy.
In fact, we can also outline a special type of Carry heroes — Strikers. They are range heroes, who can strike the enemy from afar. Examples of the best Strike heroes include Lady Geist, Lash, Pocket, Wraith, and probably Grey Talon or Shiv. Think of them more as the Deadlock version of burst damage heroes, like Phantom Assassin or Sniper: capable of making plays that decide games, but better off staying out of direct combat unless a clear opening shows up.
Deadlock Best Tank
In Deadlock almost all of the characters are damage dealers, however, some of them are more tanky than the others. So among these heroes we have so called Tanks — your front liners, designed to take in damage and lead the charge. These heroes can take a beating while dishing out enough power to keep their team moving forward.
The best characters fitting for this role include Abrams, Mo & Krill, Bebop, Warden, and Viscous. In many ways, they’re kind of tanky carries, such as Bristleback or Tidehunter, who actually enjoy team fights where the pressure held for them can be dished back in return. Having two Carries on the team, you can easily blast your way through the enemy defenses to get broad control of the battlefield.
Deadlock Best Support
Finally, Support heroes help and heal their teammates, improving their capabilities: McGinnis, Kelvin, Mo & Krill, Ivy, Viscous, and Dynamo. They bring various buffs and healing to keep the team in the fight. In many ways, they are the equivalent of supports like Dazzle or Oracle. They might not pack that raw punch in terms of damage but are crucial in making sure their teammates survive longer and thrive in lengthier battles.
This flexible hero tier list system lets you fine-tune a strategy based on team composition. Also, knowing each character brings a mix of strengths to the table that goes beyond traditional roles. Whether you carry the game or keep your team alive, there is room for every kind of playstyle in Deadlock.
