In Cataclysm, the Molten Front is a zone of volcanos and lava spills, fire, and rage. This is the very place where you can find Ragnaros and his allies. In our detailed Molten Front Guide, you’ll find information about the release date, its location, event phases, as well as vendors in the area, and more. Do not forget to check other Cata guides on our platform, for instance, you can start with our Shadow Priest Guide.
Molten Front Location
The Molten Front is a daily quest zone for level 85 players in Cataclysm Classic. A zone is located literally next door to the Firelord’s Firelands, Mount Hyjal.
And how to open the Molten Front? To get to the Molten Front, take the portal in Mount Hyjal [27.0, 55.0] after you have completed the quest Calling for Reinforcements. Here, for the most part, you will be working on the Veteran of the Molten Front achievement. The entire zone is about the first strikes against Firelands and is full of a huge amount of flamy landscapes, flame elementals, and minions of Ragnaros. Here you’ll also meet some of the famous heroes like Malfurion Stormrage or Commander Jarod Shadowsong.
Do not forget to Level Up your Cata character to participate in the Molten Front events. If you are not ready to spend your time on this task, delegate it to our pro players.
How to get to Molten Front?
Before you head to the Molten Front location, you need to complete the questline, starting from Protect the World Tree and up to Aessina’s Miracle. The quest chain is long enough, but in fact it takes up to 2,5–3 hours to deal with it.
Then, Alliance players need to complete Guardians of Hyjal: Firelands Invasion! and Horde players need to deal with Guardians of Hyjal: Firelands Invasion! — an analogous quest for their faction.
Molten Front Release Date
The release date of Molten Front is on September, 17. On this day, players started their adventure and are already fighting against fire elementals alongside the Guardians of Hyjal. All the daily quests, special gear vendors, and world event progression became available on this day.
How to Complete Molten Front Event
To begin your Molten Front journey, you need to have a level 85 character and finish the required preliminary quests in the Mount Hyjal area. The Molten Front Events unfold over the period of several phases, which take around a month to finish, normally speaking. However, in case you are persistent enough with grinding the Daily Quests, then it is quite possible to finish everything in less time.
Breakdown of Phases and Main Zones:
- The Invasion;
- The Sanctuary of Malorne;
- The Molten Front Area Quests;
- Druids of the Talon;
- The Shadow Wardens Area;
- The Final Stretch.
Each phase represents the completion of a series of daily quests and normal quest chains that advance the phase. What concerns the Marks of the World Tree, these serve as the main event currency. How to earn Marks of the World Tree? The Marks are accrued by the completion of quests in order to progress through different phases. Of course, collecting enough Mark of the World Tree and completing the different quests are needed to take you onto the next stage and complete the event.
But how do you complete the Molten Front Offensive? Let’s find out.
The Invasion
The first phase is known as The Invasion and is related to the Fireside Chat Achievement. As mentioned above, you should complete a fair share of Mount Hyjal area quests beforehand. When this requirement is met, you’ll be able to pick Guardians of Hyjal: Firelands Invasion! (A) / Guardians of Hyjal: Firelands Invasion! (H) quest.
Before you are allowed to complete the quests that we’ve mentioned above, you should complete Guardians of Hyjal: Call of the Ancients / Guardians of Hyjal: Call of the Ancients. To pick these quests head to the Bulletin Board in your capital, either Stormwind or Orgrimmar. Upon picking the quest, you’ll be sent to the Sanctuary of Malorne to report to Matoclaw. The further main quests on your way to the Molten Front are:
This phase grants you 16 16. In fact, if you are interested in how to unlock Hyjal dailies, the Invasion is the answer; after you complete the quests from Matoclaw and enter the next phase, you’ll be able to pick and complete the daily Mount Hyjal quests.
The Sanctuary of Malorne
The second phase is The Sanctuary of Malorne, related to the Fireside Chat Achievement. When the phase begins, you’ll receive the Calling for Reinforcements quest. To complete this one you’ll need to obtain 20 16, which can be done through completing one of the following daily quests with 1 2 reward:
The quests are relatively easy, and grant you 1 16. Also, you can complete the following 1+2 2 quests, related to Infernal Ambassadors and And the Meek Shall Inherit Kalimdor achievements:
The first quest grants you 1 16, and the second one — 2 16, which means you can earn up to 4 16 per day. When you gather 20 Marks, you’ll switch to the following quest chain to enter the new phase:
The Molten Front Area Quests
The main quests in the third phase are Druids of the Talon and The Shadow Wardens. Completing the quests in the Molten Front Area will bring you closer to the following achievements: The Fiery Lords of Sethria’s Roost, Flawless Victory, King of the Spider-Hill, Fireside Chat.
In this phase you’ll also have a set of daily quests with 1 2 as a reward, for instance:
And you can continue completing a set of 1+2 2 quests from the Sanctuary of Malorne Phase. Plus you’ll get each of the quests below on a daily basis with 2 2 as a reward:
- The Protectors of Hyjal — Begins in The Sanctuary of Malorne Area plus has related achievements:
Gang War,
Have… Have We Met?
Additionally, you’ll be able to pick one of the follow-up quests granting 2 2:
All in all, this phase is one of the most fruitful — you can earn up to 14 2 per day. When you gain 150 2, you’ll get to choose between Druids of the Talon or The Shadow Wardens. These two quests open more dailies, so do not miss them.
Druids of the Talon
As we progress through the Molten Front, we’ll stumble upon a new challenge — Druids of the Talon → Flight of the Storm Crows quests, opening a new area. The related achievements are Master of the Molten Flow, Fireside Chat.
You can start with completing Need… Water… Badly…, granting 5 Marks and unlocking Anren Shadowseeker — an NPC questgiver. The quests that you can pick up from Anren are Hounds of Shannox and How Hot.
If you already have Avrilla, you get access to Embergris, Some Like It Hot, and Steal Magmolias quests. This questgiver can be unlocked via The Shadow Wardens Area.
Speaking about daily quests, you’ll get Into the Fire, which is obligatory to complete to unlock Fire Flowers and Flamewakers of the Molten Flow quests. Other dailies that you can complete:
- Singed Wings;
- Territorial Birds;
- Fire in the Skies + Death From Above achievement;
- Peaked Interest;
- Starting Young.
In this area, you’ll be able to get up to 25 2 per day.
The Shadow Wardens Area
The next step is The Shadow Wardens → The Hunt Begins quests, opening this new area. Here we have the Fireside Chat related achievement and a one-time quest, unlocking Avrilla:
Here’s Avrilla‘s chain of quests, granting 1 2:
And the area daily quests, granting 2 2:
We recommend completing The Forlorn Spire primary to any of the area quests in order to get access to Enduring the Heat. All in all, this area gives you an opportunity to earn 25 2 per day.
The Final Stretch
The Final Stretch is our final destination. At this point, you should have both NPCs unlocked to earn 26 Marks per day.
Keep in mind, that you can complete either Into the Fire or The Forlorn Spire per day, not both. The available dailies depend on this choice.
The coolest thing about this phase is that if you manage to complete both The Shadow Wardens → The Hunt Begins and Druids of the Talon → Flight of the Storm Crows, The Malfurion’s Breach will turn into The Regrowth — a beginning of the once-destroyed forest. After that, you’ll receive additional quests:

Reputation in Molten Front
We can not but mention, that the Molten Front is the perfect place for reputation farming. There are two main factions, with whom you can gain renown:
- Avengers of Hyjal — the subset of the Cenarion Circle, looking for revenge;
- Guardians of Hyjal — druids and warriors, who protect the Mount Hyjal.
Avengers of Hyjal reputation is purely obtained by killing mobs in the Firelands raid with no reputation quests. A full clear of Normal-mode Firelands , with Guild Perks, gives a 2420 reputation. Killing the first four bosses in Firelands (Shannox, Lord Rhyolith, Beth’tilac, Alysrazor) will grant you 250 reputation on Normal and 500 on Heroic. The remaining bosses in the raid (Baleroc, Majordomo Staghelm, Ragnaros) give 400 reputation and 800 on Normal and Heroic difficulties respectively. By the way, you can also loot reputation from trash, but only until the Honored level. However, Molten Lords can give 50 rep until Revered.
Guardians of Hyjal reputation starts with quests on Mount Hyjal. Upon reaching Friendly you can purchase the Tabard of the Guardians of Hyjal from Provisioner Whitecloud which will allow you to continue gaining reputation in Grim Batol, Halls of Origination, and all Heroic dungeons.
Molten Front Factions
In the Molten Front, you can also find other notable factions. They are the Druids of the Talon, the Shadow Wardens, and the hostile Druids of the Flame that belong to Majordomo Staghelm‘s minions. All the daily faction quests done with the Druids of the Talon and Shadow Wardens give Guardians of Hyjal rep as well, but reps cannot be farmed from the Druids of the Flame, which can only be killed.
