Dragon Soul Bosses
In Dragon Soul raid you will face 8 mighty bosses in total. Each of them has distinct mechanics and will challenge your whole raid group. Therefore it’s really important to be prepared and learn about the tactics for each boss.
Morchok
Morchok is the first boss in the Dragon Soul raid in WoW Cataclysm Classic. He’s a giant, furious rock with the intelligence of a pebble. His favorite activities include stomping players into dust and tossing explosive crystals like a toddler flinging toys.
The fight itself is simple but annoying. Stick close to the boss, soak damage, and avoid standing in the Black Blood of the Earth. If you don’t, you’ll melt faster than a snowball in Firelands.
DPS Tips:
- Resonating Crystal – If targeted, run out but not too far — share the pain.
- Black Blood of the Earth – Do not stand in the black puddles unless you want to die like a clown.
- Kohcrom (Heroic Only) – Morchok’s evil twin joins the fight. Same mechanics, just double trouble.
- Furious Phase (20% HP) – Morchok attacks faster and harder. Burn him down before he deletes your raid.
Healer Tips:
- Stomp – Hits the whole raid, but tanks and one unlucky player take double damage. Heal them fast.
- Resonating Crystal – Three players (seven in 25-player) take a blast. Patch them up quickly.
- The Earth Consumes You! – Constant ticking raid damage. Keep everyone alive.
- Black Blood of the Earth – If players stand in the black goo, they take stacking damage. Heal them, but remind them they’re making bad life choices.
Tank Tips:
- Stomp – You and another player take a big hit. Be one of them and stay close.
- The Earth Consumes You! – Morchok drags you in. Be ready to move fast.
- Kohcrom (Heroic Only) – Two bosses means two tanks. Split them up.
- Furious Phase (20% HP) – Morchok goes berserk. Use defensive cooldowns and survive.
Morchok Abilities
| Ability Name | Who Must Focus | What To Do |
|---|---|---|
| Stomp | Tank/Healer/DPS | Soak |
| The Earth Consumes You! | All | Run out |
| Black Blood of the Earth | All | Get out |
| Furious (20% HP Phase) | Tank/Healer | Burn him fast |
| Kohcrom (Heroic Only) | Tank/DPS | Split up |
In Cataclysm Classic Dragon Soul Morchok drops the following items:
Warlord Zon’ozz
Zon’ozz is a massive, ugly squid who turns your raid into a game of ping-pong with the Void of the Unmaking. Instead of paddles, he smacks the ball using your face. The whole fight revolves around bouncing the void, soaking damage, and making healers question their life choices. Mess up, and Black Blood Eruption will wipe the raid.
DPS Tips:
- Void of the Unmaking – Stand near the void and bounce it, but don’t let it hit the edge.
- Zon’ozz Diffused – When the void collides with the boss, he takes extra damage. Burn him down!
- Tentacles (Heroic Mode) – Kill them fast, or they make the fight worse.
Healer Tips:
- Psychic Drain – Zon’ozz heals himself when hitting the tank. Keep the tank alive, or he gets free HP.
- Disrupting Shadows – Do NOT dispel near others, or you’ll launch them into orbit.
- Void Diffusion – When the void bounces, players take heavy shadow damage. Spam those heals.
- Black Blood of Go’rath – Raid-wide shadow damage for 30 seconds. Big AoE heals needed.
Tank Tips:
- Focused Anger – Zon’ozz hits harder over time. Prepare for big damage spikes.
- Psychic Drain – Face him away from the raid to avoid healing the boss.
- Claw of Go’rath (Heroic Mode) – Pick up the add, or it will spit ooze at random players.
Warlord Zon’ozz Abilities
| Ability Name | Who Must Focus | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| Void of the Unmaking | All | Soak & Bounce |
| Void Diffusion | Healers/DPS | Soak |
| Black Blood Eruption | All | Avoid |
| Disrupting Shadows | Healers | Careful Dispel |
| Psychic Drain | Tank/Healers | Face Away |
| Focused Anger | Tanks/Healers | Survive |
| Tentacles (Heroic Mode) | DPS | Kill Fast |
In Cataclysm Classic Dragon Soul Warlord Zon’ozz drops the following items:
Yor’sahj the Unsleeping
Yor’sahj is a lazy, disgusting blob-worshipper who lets his slimes do all the work. Instead of fighting like a real boss, he just stands there while Call Blood of Shu’ma summons random-colored globules, each granting him a nasty new ability.
DPS Tips:
- Kill the right slime! – Follow the raid leader’s call. Don’t hit the wrong one.
- Forgotten Ones (Dark Globule effect) – Kill these adds fast. If ignored, they overwhelm the raid.
- Mana Void (Cobalt Globule effect) – Melee ignores it, and casters kill it when mana is low.
- Burn the boss when slimes are dead – Yor’sahj doesn’t move. Free damage window!
Healer Tips:
- Void Bolt – Stacks Shadow damage on the tank. Keep them alive.
- Deep Corruption – If this is active, don’t spam heals. Too much healing explodes the raid.
- Searing Blood – The farther a player is from the boss, the more damage they take. Heal them first.
- Mana Void (Cobalt Globule effect) – Restores mana when killed. Keep healers alive until they die.
Tank Tips:
- Void Bolt – Stacks over time, causing heavy damage. Healers must stay focused.
- Acidic Globule effect – Boss does AoE Digestive Acid. Hold him in place for the raid.
- Searing Blood effect – Keep boss in the center, and ranged should stack closer.
- Forgotten Ones (Dark Globule effect) – Adds can’t be taunted, but help with positioning.
Yor’sahj the Unsleeping Abilities
| Ability Name | Who Must Focus | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| Void Bolt | Tank/Healers | Heal Through |
| Call Blood of Shu’ma | DPS | Kill the Right Slime |
| Deep Corruption | Healers | Heal Carefully |
| Searing Blood | Healers/Ranged DPS | Stack Closer |
| Forgotten Ones | DPS | Kill Quickly |
| Acidic Globule | All | Heal & Survive |
In Cataclysm Classic Dragon Soul Yor’sahj the Unsleeping drops the following items:
Hagara the Stormbinder
Hagara thinks she’s a storm goddess, but she’s just an angry shaman with a lightning addiction. She hurls ice, lightning, and pain at the raid while cackling like an evil weather forecaster. Prepare to be frozen, electrocuted, and knocked around. If you were hoping for a simple fight where you stand still and smack the boss, too bad, you’ll spend half the fight running for your life.
DPS Tips:
- Kill Ice Tombs fast – Trapped players take constant damage. Free them ASAP.
- Frozen Tempest Phase – Kill Binding Crystals or the storm never ends.
- Lightning Storm Phase – Chain the lightning between Conductors to overload them.
- Burn Hagara when stunned – She takes 100% extra damage after Frozen Tempest or Lightning Storm.
Healer Tips:
- Focused Assault – The tank takes massive burst damage. Spam heals or lose them.
- Ice Tomb – Players inside take heavy DoT damage. Break them out fast.
- Frozen Tempest Phase – Raid-wide Frost damage. Big AoE heals are needed.
- Lightning Storm Phase – Nature damage hits everyone. Heal through it.
- Frostflake (Heroic Mode) – Do NOT dispel near the raid, or you’ll create a slow zone.
Tank Tips:
- Focused Assault – Huge burst damage. Use defensive cooldowns.
- Watery Entrenchment – Do NOT stand in the bubble, or you’ll drown.
- Lightning Elementals (Heroic Mode) – Move them near Conductors before they die.
- Keep Hagara in the middle – Gives DPS and healers space to dodge mechanics.
Hagara the Stormbinder Abilities
| Ability Name | Who Must Focus | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| Focused Assault | Tank/Healers | Survive |
| Ice Tomb | DPS/Healers | Kill Fast/Heal |
| Frozen Tempest | All | Kill Crystals |
| Ice Wave | All | Run! |
| Lightning Storm | All | Chain Lightning |
| Crystal Conductor | DPS | Chain & Overload |
| Frostflake (Heroic) | Healers | Dispel Carefully |
In Cataclysm Classic Dragon Soul Hagara the Stormbinder drops the following items:
Ultraxion
Ultraxion is hands down the most boring dragon in Dragon Soul. He doesn’t move, doesn’t chase, and just spams shadow magic at the raid like a grumpy spellcaster. But don’t be fooled — his attacks hit like a truck, and one mistake = instant death.
DPS Tips:
- Burn the Boss – Ultraxion is a DPS check. Kill him before Twilight Eruption wipes the raid.
- Fading Light – If targeted, press Heroic Will before the timer expires. Or die.
- Hour of Twilight – If assigned to soak, stay in the Twilight Realm. If not, press Heroic Will.
Healer Tips:
- Unstable Monstrosity – The raid takes constant ticking damage. Spam heals.
- Fading Light – If targeted, press Heroic Will or die instantly.
- Hour of Twilight – At least 3 players (5 in 25-man) must soak, or Azeroth explodes.
- Pick a Buff – Choose from:
- Gift of Life (Alexstrasza) – Stronger direct heals.
- Essence of Dreams (Ysera) – Heals apply extra AoE healing.
- Source of Magic (Kalecgos) – More mana regen.
Tank Tips:

| Fading Light | DPS/Tank | Press Heroic Will |

In Cataclysm Classic Dragon Soul Ultraxion drops the following items:
Warmaster Blackhorn
Warmaster Blackhorn is the wannabe final boss of Dragon Soul Phase 4. He rides a big scary dragon, shouts a lot, and throws everything at the raid: fire, drakes, soldiers, and pain.
DPS Tips:
- Kill Drakes Fast – Ranged burn drakes down. If they live too long, the raid gets overwhelmed.
- Focus Adds First – Melee kills Elite Dreadblades and Slayers before switching to drakes.
- Dodge Blade Rush & Shockwave – If you stand still, you die. Move!
- Kill Goriona Fast – If she doesn’t flee, Blackhorn becomes a nightmare.
- Burn Blackhorn in Phase 2 – The faster he dies, the easier the fight.
Healer Tips:
- Twilight Onslaught & Barrages – Raid takes huge damage when soaking. Keep them up.
- Degeneration / Brutal Strike – Tanks get stacking DoTs. Heal fast or they fall over.
Shockwave & Disrupting Roar – Stuns & interrupts can wreck the raid. Patch them up. - Vengeance – The longer the fight, the harder he hits. Get ready for big healing.
Tank Tips:
- Pick Up Adds Fast – If adds run loose, DPS & Healers get farmed.
- Swap on Devastate Stacks – Too many stacks = dead tank. Swap before that happens.
- Face Blackhorn Away from Raid – Shockwave is a frontal cone. Don’t stun everyone.
- Soak Twilight Onslaught – Stand in it to absorb big damage and keep the ship afloat.
Warmaster Blackhorn Abilities
| Ability Name | Who Must Focus | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| Twilight Onslaught | All | Soak Together |
| Twilight Barrage | All | Soak |
| Blade Rush | All | Dodge |
| Shockwave | All | Dodge |
| Disrupting Roar | Casters/Healers | Stop Casting |
| Devastate | Tanks | Swap at 3-4 Stacks |
| Twilight Flames | Ranged DPS | Kill Goriona |
| Vengeance | All | Kill Fast |
In Cataclysm Classic Dragon Soul Warmaster Blackhorn drops the following items:
Spine of Deathwing
This isn’t a fight against Deathwing — it’s a fight against his back. He rolls, shakes, and spawns blood, tentacles, and abominations to kill you. Your job? Rip off his armor plates before the raid wipes.
If you stand in the wrong place, Deathwing yeets you into the Maelstrom. Welcome to Cata Classic Phase 4, where Deathwing himself is the battlefield.
DPS Tips:

- Break Fiery Grip Fast – If not, healers and tanks get locked down and die.
- Kill Bloods Near the Amalgamation – They soak Residue and power it up.
- Burn Burning Tendons Fast – This is the ONLY WAY to remove armor plates. Fail = wipe.

- Searing Plasma – Puts a healing absorption debuff on players. Heal it off fast.
- Fiery Grip – Stuns a random player for 30 seconds. DPS must break it ASAP.
