HOME ARC Raiders Arc Raiders Close Scrutiny Guide

The Arc Raiders Close Scrutiny is the first ARC Operation introduced in the Flashpoint Update. Close Scrutiny is centered around the ARC Assessor, loaded with rare loot and guarded by the most dangerous enemies in the game. This guide covers how Close Scrutiny works, how to find and breach Assessors, what loot to expect, and how to survive the operation from landing to extraction.

Arc Raiders Close Scrutiny Key Takeaways:

  • Close Scrutiny is the first ARC Operation in Arc Raiders, introduced with the Flashpoint Update on March 31, 2026.
  • It is available on four exterior maps: Blue Gate, Buried City, Spaceport, and Dam Battlegrounds. Stella Montis is excluded.
  • The condition is active for one hour at a time, rotating like Night Raids and Electromagnetic Storms.
  • Standard loot from crates and civilian hotspots is significantly reduced during Close Scrutiny. Locked Doors are disabled entirely.
  • ARC loot and materials are increased.
  • The Assessor is a three-legged ARC probe that spawns a few minutes into a Close Scrutiny match. It is marked on the compass and identified by three red beams firing into the sky.
  • Each Assessor has three containers that can be breached separately by climbing the probe’s legs.
  • Breaching any container triggers a loud alarm and attracts additional ARC, including Vaporizers.
  • Containers will eventually launch back into the sky if not breached in time.
  • The Dolabra Blueprint and the Assessor Matrix are the most valuable exclusive drops from the Assessor.
  • Vaporizers and Surveyors are the primary ARC threats guarding the operation.
  • Close Scrutiny is an endgame-difficulty map condition. A custom loadout and squad coordination are strongly recommended.

What Is Arc Raiders Close Scrutiny

Arc Raiders Close Scrutiny Guide

Arc Raiders Close Scrutiny is a Major Map Condition, and the first ARC Operation added to the game. Unlike previous conditions that altered weather or enemy density, ARC Operations are built around a specific combat objective rather than environmental pressure. In Close Scrutiny, that objective is the Assessor — and everything about the map is shaped around pushing Raiders toward it.

The Close Scrutiny event in Arc Raiders is a map condition that is only live for an hour at a time, just like Night Raids and Electromagnetic Storms. It is live on most maps apart from Stella Montis at various times throughout the day.

When Close Scrutiny is active, the standard scavenging loop breaks down. There will be less valuable loot in general to find in containers, while locked doors that require Keys to access won’t be active. The tradeoff is that there is an increased amount of Arc loot, so it’s perfect for scavenging crafting materials.

Close Scrutiny is designed as an endgame-difficulty modifier. Dropping in with a free loadout or without a clear plan will result in an empty-handed extraction at best, and a full wipe at worst. This is why you should always be prepared with the best PvP Loadout possible.

Arc Raiders Close Scrutiny Maps

Arc Raiders Close Scrutiny is available on four of the five current maps in the game. It is available on Blue Gate, Buried City, Spaceport, and Dam Battlegrounds. Stella Montis is excluded because its indoor bunker environment does not support the Assessor’s open-air landing mechanic.

Maps where Close Scrutiny can appear:

  • Blue Gate;
  • Buried City;
  • Spaceport;
  • Dam Battlegrounds.

The condition rotates on an hourly basis. You can check the current map conditions from the deployment screen in Speranza before queuing. You can also complete different Quests when you play on each map, or let us handle it for you instead.

Arc Raiders Close Scrutiny Enemies

Arc Raiders Close Scrutiny Guide

Enemy types that appear in Arc Raiders Close Scrutiny define the danger level of the operation. Understanding both before dropping in determines whether your run ends with a successful extraction or a full loss.

Vaporizer

The Vaporizer is the new flying ARC unit introduced in the Flashpoint Update, and it is the primary threat throughout Close Scrutiny. Vaporizers and Surveyors spawn just about everywhere during Close Scrutiny.

Key characteristics of the Vaporizer during Close Scrutiny:

  • Flying ARC with high-tracking laser attacks.
  • Operates in groups, often near the Assessor.
  • Laser damage stacks — sustained exposure is lethal quickly.
  • Unpredictable attack pattern that punishes static cover.
  • Immediately responds to the breach alarm alongside other ARC units.

Never fight Vaporizers in the open. Use roofs, overhangs, and any vertical cover you can find. Audio improvements in Patch 1.22.0 make flying ARC easier to track by sound, which helps anticipate Vaporizer movement before they have line of sight.

Surveyors

Surveyors appear in increased numbers during Close Scrutiny and act as a force multiplier. They actively scout the map and call in reinforcements when they detect Raiders. Clearing visible Surveyors before approaching the Assessor reduces the risk of triggering additional enemy waves during the breach.

Shredders

Shredders, previously confined to Stella Montis, now roam freely across all four Close Scrutiny maps. They punish stationary play, which is a problem when you’re trying to hold position near an Assessor. Listen for their distinctive mechanical skittering sound — it is often the only warning before a flank.

One of the best ways to deal with these Arcs is to use the new Dolabra shotgun, which we can help obtain for you.

What Is the Arc Raiders Assessor

Arc Raiders Close Scrutiny Guide

Assessor in Arc Raiders is a massive three-legged ARC probe that lands on the map during the Close Scrutiny map condition. It carries rare loot, guarded by some of the most dangerous enemies in the game.

The Assessor itself shows no direct aggression. It does not fire at the Raiders. Its danger comes entirely from the ARC units that escort and guard it, and from the alarm triggered during breach attempts.

Key Assessor facts:

  • Large three-pronged dark grey structure on a tripod of legs.
  • Assessors are large, three-legged landing platforms that begin to spawn a few minutes into a Close Scrutiny match and will continue to land over the course of the raid.
  • Each Assessor has three individual containers.
  • Containers are accessed by walking up the legs on each side of the structure.
  • If you don’t open them quickly, the containers will gradually launch back into the sky and will be lost.

How to Find the Assessor in Arc Raiders

In Arc Raiders, Assessors spawn a few minutes into any Close Scrutiny raid on exterior maps. They do not appear at match start. Once an Assessor lands, it is immediately marked on your compass with a probe icon.

The easiest visual identifier is the beacon: what you need to look for are beams of red light firing up into the sky. These beams are visible from a significant distance and are not subtle — every squad on the map sees them simultaneously, which means every squad is also moving toward the same point of interest at the same time.

Steps to locate the Assessor:

  • Drop into a Close Scrutiny map condition on one of the four available exterior maps.
  • Wait a few minutes after the match starts for Assessors to begin landing.
  • Watch for the probe icon on your compass.
  • Follow the three red beams of light to the source.
  • Approach with cover, scouting Vaporizer patrol paths before entering engagement range.

How to Breach the Arc Raiders Assessor

Arc Raiders Assessors have three panels on them that can be broken open if you walk up on their sides. However, doing so triggers a noise alarm that alerts nearby Arc robots.

The process for breaching the containers:

  • Clear Vaporizers and Surveyors in the immediate area before approaching;
  • Walk up the legs of the Assessor to reach each container panel;
  • Breach and loot the container — this triggers the alarm;
  • Prepare for immediate ARC reinforcements, including Vaporizers;
  • Repeat for the remaining containers while managing the enemy wave.

Alternatively, a stealth approach to breaching containers is possible. A Photoelectric Cloak can be activated to sneak up on the Assessor, breach a container, get loot, then activate the cloak again to get away from the area before too many ARC robots are alerted.

However, if your team is strong enough to fight off the ARC robots, it is possible to breach all three containers. ARC robots need to be cleared first. Then, breach all three containers in sequence. Smoke grenades can be used to distract ARC robots.

Arc Raiders Close Scrutiny Loot

Arc Raiders Close Scrutiny Guide

The Assessor in Arc Raiders is the primary and only source of rewards during Close Scrutiny. The ambient loot reduction is in direct trade for what is offered by the Assessor.

Arc Raiders Close Scrutiny loot that drops from Assessors can include:

  • Dolabra Blueprint — legendary energy shotgun, with the best chance to drop from Assessors during Close Scrutiny;
  • Assessor Matrix — epic recyclable material for the High Gain Antenna Project;
  • Canto Blueprint — rare medium ammo SMG;
  • ARC crafting components and materials;
  • High-tier loot and weapons.

Assessor Matrix can only be acquired through breaching and looting the Assessor drop pods during the Close Scrutiny map condition. Dolabra Blueprint is also rare, so several attempts at Close Scrutiny across multiple raids may be necessary to acquire it.

Aside from the Assessor, there is also more Arc loot across the map, which makes Close Scrutiny a good time to scavenge crafting materials from ARC enemies, even if the Assessor is contested or looted by another squad.

To use these high-end crafting materials, you will need Crafting Station Upgrades, preferably at max level. If you don’t want to grind to do that, however, our services can solve it for you instead.

Arc Raiders Close Scrutiny Tips and Strategy

The key to success in Close Scrutiny is using the right equipment, handling ARC threats such as Vaporizers and Surveyors, and figuring out the right approach for the Assessor, which could be aggressive or stealthy. In this Close Scrutiny Tips section, we will discuss the best approach for the Raiders to ensure that they get the best loot possible.

Loadout Recommendations

Close Scrutiny demands your best gear. Recommended items for a successful run:

  • Primary weapon: Hullcracker or Aphelion for sustained ARC damage — Wolfpacks are also effective against grouped threats.
  • Secondary weapon: Dolabra (if unlocked) for armor penetration and anti-Vaporizer focused fire, or Canto for medium-ammo conservation.
  • Gadget: Surge Coil for area denial around the Assessor during the breach — place behind your position as an early warning system against flanking Raiders.
  • Utility: Photoelectric Cloak for stealth breach attempts; smoke grenades for cover during container opening.
  • Healing: Bring significantly more than a standard raid — Vaporizer laser damage stacks, and supply burns faster than expected.

Squad vs. Solo

It’s much easier with a coordinated team, so grab some friends. A coordinated squad can divide roles — some clearing Vaporizers, others covering flanks and watching for rival squads. Solo runs are possible but demand exceptional positioning and patience.

Managing PvP Pressure

Because ambient loot is heavily reduced, every squad on the map converges on the Assessor. The 25% rule: most PvP ambushes happen when the Assessor reaches 25% health. Keep a scout or a Surge Coil watching your back.

Other squads will often hold back, allow you to burn through healing and resources, clearing ARC patrols, and then rush in once you’ve done the work. Keep at least one squad member watching flanks rather than focusing entirely on the breach.

Extraction Planning

After securing loot, consider extracting from a quieter point farther from the Assessor rather than fighting through a second engagement while your supplies are depleted. Extraction points near the Assessor become contested quickly, especially after a successful breach that other Raiders have observed from a distance.
