HOME How to get OSRS How to Get to Tempoross Osrs

Tempoross is OSRS’s fishing boss — a colossal water spirit fought through a skill-based minigame that rewards Fishing XP, reward pool loot, and the Spirit Flakes currency. It’s one of the best mid-level Fishing training methods and a reliable source of Angler outfit pieces. Getting there requires only a short boat ride and no quest prerequisites.

  • Located in the Sea of Souls, accessed from the docks at Cairn Isle near the Feldip Hills coast
  • No quest requirements; minimum 35 Fishing to participate
  • Fastest travel: Fairy Ring DJP then run south to the docks, or Skills Necklace to Fishing Guild and run south-west
  • Reward pool drops include Angler outfit, Spirit Flakes, fish, and the rare Tiny Tempor pet
  • Harpoonfish are used as ammunition to damage Tempoross — bring a Harpoon or Barb-tail Harpoon

How to Get to Tempoross in OSRS

Tempoross is accessed from the docks on the south coast of Feldip Hills at Cairn Isle. The non-player character Captain Dudi offers a boat trip to the Sea of Souls where Tempoross awaits.

Travel options:

  1. Fairy Ring DJP — lands near Feldip Hills; run south to the docks at Cairn Isle. One of the faster options requiring partial Fairytale II completion.
  2. Skills Necklace to Fishing Guild — run south then west to the Feldip coast.
  3. Iorwerth Camp Teleport (after Song of the Elves) — run south-east to the coast.
  4. Charter Ship to Mos Le’Harmless — then walk west along the coast to Cairn Isle.
  5. Feldip Hills teleport via Hunter skill cape — direct area teleport for 99 Hunter accounts.

ℹ️ There’s no minimum group size for Tempoross — you can participate solo or with a full boat of players. The boss scales to the number of players present, so solo and group runs both work, though group runs are faster per kill.

How Tempoross Works

Tempoross is fought through a skill loop rather than traditional combat. Players fish Harpoonfish from spots around the arena, cook them on fires (optionally), then use them to fill cannons and shoot Tempoross. The more damage dealt before the energy pool hits 0%, the better the reward pool.

Key phases:

  1. Fishing phase — catch Harpoonfish from the fishing spots around the arena
  2. Cook phase (optional) — cooked fish fill the reward pool more than raw ones
  3. Loading phase — fill the cannons around the arena with fish
  4. Fire phase — shoot the cannons at Tempoross to reduce its essence

⚠️ Tempoross periodically causes whirlpools and waves that can stun players and destroy fire spots. Position near the clouds in the arena to avoid waves, and relight fires quickly when they’re extinguished to maintain cooking capability.

Tempoross Rewards and Spirit Flakes

After each Tempoross kill, you draw rewards from a bucket at the reward pool near the dock. Rewards scale with your contribution during the fight.

RewardSourceNotes
Angler outfit piecesReward pool1/8 chance per piece per run roughly
Spirit FlakesReward poolUsed to double fish catches
Tackle box (upgradeable)Spirit Flakes shopHolds fishing supplies
Tiny Tempor petRare reward pool~1/8000 effective rate

Spirit Flakes (100 per run average) are the passive currency from Tempoross. They’re used to buy the Tackle Box and can be used while fishing to double catch rates — one of the better passive bonuses for Fishing training elsewhere.

Getting Angler outfit from Tempoross is significantly faster than the traditional Fishing Trawler method. If you’d rather grind your Fishing level elsewhere while keeping the Angler outfit goal in sight, our OSRS skilling services can assist.

OSRS Tempoross FAQ

Below are the most common questions about accessing and farming Tempoross in OSRS.

What Level Do You Need for Tempoross?

Minimum 35 Fishing to participate. In practice, XP rates are more meaningful from 50+ Fishing, and the Angler outfit bonus (which increases Fishing XP) is most valuable if you’re planning high-level Fishing training afterward. There’s no upper level cap — all levels benefit.

How Long Does a Tempoross Run Take?

A solo run takes roughly 5–8 minutes. Group runs with experienced players can complete in 3–5 minutes. The reward pool is drawn from immediately after the kill, so there’s no downtime between trips beyond sailing back to the dock.

Is Tempoross Better than Fishing Trawler for Angler Outfit?

Yes — Tempoross is generally considered faster for the Angler outfit. The outfit pieces are on the reward pool with a reasonable rate, and you get Fishing XP and Spirit Flakes as a bonus. Fishing Trawler drops are slower per hour of activity.

What Is a Harpoon and Do You Need to Bring One?

A regular Harpoon or Barb-tail Harpoon is needed to fish Harpoonfish at Tempoross. Bring one in your inventory — it doesn’t get consumed. If you forget, there’s a storage chest at the dock with basic supplies, but it’s faster to come prepared.

Can You Get Fishing XP While AFK at Tempoross?

Tempoross requires active participation — idle players who don’t contribute during the fight get minimal reward pool access and some XP. It’s not AFK-friendly in the way Barbarian Fishing is, but the required attention is low compared to intensive Fishing methods.

Tempoross is one of those rare skilling activities that genuinely feels like a boss fight — the scaling difficulty, the phase mechanics, and the reward pool make it worth visiting even if Fishing isn’t your focus.
